What do you think of this description?

In the combox on this Fresh Tea Daily post, TeaPartyJim announces an upcoming radio appearance on radio station WRVA in Richmond, Virginia next Wednesday to talk about the Tea Party movement.

He asks about this as a way to describe the movement:

The Tea Party movement is a FivePartisan event; Republicans, disaffected Democrats that are experiencing buyer’s remorse, Libertarians, Independents, and those not previously involved in the political process and are questioning the wisdom of that strategy.

I love that last part. What are your thoughts?

P.S.: Here’s the Richmond Tea Party link.

    Other things for radio…
    Be upbeat and passionate. Review the demographics of the radio station (checkout their advertising metrics on their website) and try to speak to that audience.

  2. Richard says:

    I would recommend dropping the “FivePartisan event; Republicans, disaffected Democrats that are experiencing buyer’s remorse, Libertarians, Independents” for the following reasons:
    1. too long and wordy
    2. simply the mention of demo/repub’s makes many tune out.

    Perhaps something like:
    ================
    The Tea Party is about American citizens telling politicians to stop spending their money and their children’s money.
    ================

  3. John says:

    I presume that “that strategy” refers back to something said previously - otherwise, I would have no idea what strategy it is. Otherwise - this statement is cogent and on the money.

  4. Wendy says:

    Maybe stay away from the word partisan all together. Most people don’t really know what the parties stand for anyway. The do get the idea of We the People. Instead of making it sound like we are working together despite differences, let’s assume that we are all part of the “Commone Sense” party.

    The Tea Party Movement offers a voice to folks who understand personal responsibility and want to put the “We” back into “We the People.”

    Thanks for the tips, teablogger. I plan to have a bullett point list and we’ll only use one contact point, richmondteaparty.com

    That’s our web site number, if you’re watching Mr. Vice President.

    Here’s a radio tip…don’t try to give your listeners more than one or two ways to get in touch with your organization after the show.

    Pick a URL and a phone number, or just a URL, and stick to it.

    If you try to help your listeners by giving them a list of 10 different ways they can reach you (like “We have a Facebook group and you can find us on Twitter, and we also have a website which you can find at … or you can call me at … or the other main organizer at … it’ll all become a blur in the listener’s mind.

    Another tip:

    Write down the address of the rally and any other detailed information that you think the radio host is likely to ask you about. Don’t assume you’ll remember those details in the stress of the moment.

    I’m just going to try to not screw it up, guys. I have copiously avoided situations like this all my life, but this one can’t be avoided, I’m afraid.

    I have no idea as to the length of the segment.

  8. LogicAl says:

    Would you see if there is any way to perhaps get an MP3 file of your segment. I have recently formed the Boise Idaho Party and intend on calling the local station as well. I’d like to get some talking points and “go to school” on you, if you don’t mind ; -)

  9. teablogger says:

    You’ll do great. How many minutes is the segment supposed to go?

  10. teapartyjim says:

    WRVA, Wednesday, 5:05pm
    First time on radio. Nervous but excited.
