Connecticut: Nearly 10,000 embittered state residents took part in a nationwide Tax Day Tea Party on the day their taxes were due. They protested in downtown Shelton, on the Green in New Haven and on the north steps of the Capitol in Hartford. Others gathered in Greenwich and New Milford. They brought tea bags, sang “God Bless America” and shouted demands they hope the General Assembly and Congress will hear.

Utah: Salt Lake City: More than 1,000 protesters gathered outside a downtown federal building in the rain and snow on Wednesday to complain about what they say is Congressional spending that’s out of control. “No more bailouts, no more stimulus,” Chaffetz said. “It’s just fundamentally wrong.”

California: Atascadero: Hundreds protest downtown - “The young ones are going to get the shaft in this,” said Snyder. “This doesn’t have to do with what being for either party. It’s a grass roots movement because people have had enough.” Most attendees held signs or waved American flags or flags that read “Don’t Tread On Me.”

Virginia: Winchester: More than 300 people stood in a steady drizzle holding signs sporting messages such as “Stop bankrupting our children and our grandchildren’s future” and “American Exception not European Socialism.”

Maryland: Annapolis - Hundreds braved the rain … there were roughly a dozen similar protests scheduled across the state in towns from Baltimore to Westminster.

New Jersey: Newark - Many picketed in front of Gateway One in Newark, home to the offices of US Senators Lautenberg and Menendez … includes video

Texas: Dallas (Southlake): About 500 people stood in front of Southlake’s town hall to boo governmental intervention, burgeoning bank bailouts and the recent stimulus package. “I’m sick of all this wasteful spending.” … Houston: “I can’t read. What’s your excuse?” - Photo gallery here … Corpus Christi - About 300 people gathered at for a Tax Day Tea Party to protest what participants call out-of-control federal spending. Many people waved U.S. flags, wore shirts with Texas flags or carried signs with slogans including “Your mortgage is not my problem.”

Florida: West Palm Beach: Hundreds arrive early … Jacksonville: 2,000 - 3,000 rally - “My name’s Michael. I’m 10 years old and I’m too young to be in debt,” he said, inciting a roar from the audience. … Indian River County draws 3,500 - “Either you control your government or your government will control you,” Solari said.

Pennsylvania: Honesdale - It was an all-American protest in Central Park on Wednesday, as hundreds cried out against U.S. government priorities, “Obama … I’ll keep my guns, bible, money. You keep the change.” “Stimulate Business. Not Government.” “Capitalism Not Socialism” “Out of Control Government Spending Robs Peter and Paul” “Remember the 1773 Tea Party.”

Alabama: Mobile: Hundreds gather - Many carried homemade signs some of which read: “It’s easy to spend other people’s money,” “#1 Threat to our economy is politicians. Fire Congress 2010,” “born free, but taxed to death,” and “Government, you created this welfare state for voters. Dismantle it now. God Bless America.”

Wisconsin: Eau Claire: Hundreds gather - Joe Matthews from Sparta said, “We’re telling the government you work for us. We don’t work for the government.”

New York: Watertown: 100+ people - “When a president takes over a company like GM, that should be an impeachable offense,” Mr. Dunk said. “There’s nothing in the constitution that says the government has a right to do that.”

West Virginia: Charleston - Organizers say Americans “are being taxed to death,” and combined with what they call wasteful government spending, they believe the nation is digging itself into a big financial hole the country with no way to recover. Although attendance numbers are still being calculated, organizers expect it to be the largest single day protest in American History. Slide show here

    Steamboat Springs had over 200 in attendence and it was a diverse crowd with no politicians allowed.
    The heart of America is starting to pound.
    We are going to save our futures with this heartfelt movement.

    I was at the CULPEPER, VA rally earlier today and there looked to be 300-400 people. It was cold and rainy, but that didn’t stop a good-sized group from gathering peacefully and protesting. It was a good cross-ection of Americans and a good vibe.
