“I’m not good at estimating numbers but it appeared that at around 500 people turned out for the tax rally on the lawn at the statehouse in Montpelier. I was suprised by such a large showing in a state that is so liberal. The rally was from 12;00-2:00. After the rally, demonstrators entered the statehouse while the representatives were in session. They were surprised by the number of people there!”

“I would like to thank the 300 to 400 people who showed up at the courthouse here in Montrose. We had a great day exercising our right to peaceful assembly.” (Colorado)

“I just got back from a TEA party in Ventura, California and it was great. There were about 300 people assembled listening to speakers and another 100 or so people lined up on the streets in front of the Government Center. Not only were the protesters on the street invigorating, but so were the constant honks and cheers from the numerous cars passing by. It is apparent that MANY Americans agree with these TEA parties!”

Keep it up fellow Americans, this is our time to stand and defend our Nation, our Constitution, and protect the future of the next generation.”

Someone had set up 1500 American flags on the ‘mall’ in front of the Capitol, so as you’re walking up the street you saw a mass of American flags. The turnout was large and enthusiastic - much bigger than I expected! “I was racing, tax returns in hand, to make the last pick up at the post office when The Beatles’ “Tax Man” came on. Smiling and thinking how prophetic the old song was, I rounded the bend near Pray Park in Waterville, Ohio (Rts 24 & 64), to find a crowd of people from this small village on the banks of the Maumee River, gathered in protest. Trust me…I’ve lived southwest of here and have driven this route for 10 years; I’ve never seen anyone at Pary Park, much less a rally like this. Didn’t seem to be organized; only an impromtu gathering of citizens. Amazing…they’re demonstrating what I’ve been thinking. If I weren’t so tired from trying to meet the filing deadline, I’d have stopped and joined them.”

“I too just got back from the Tea Party at Sunset & Eastern and it was FANTASTIC. They estimated about 2000 people there, but for every person actually there, there was also at least one car driving by honking in support.”

“We had about 2000 - 3000 at the Tea Party in Louisville KY throughout the day. We had great media coverage and everything went perfect. No police harrasment, no anti-protesters, everyone was kind and organized. We made a big impact here in Louisville, Go Get’em America.”

GULFPORT, MS SUCCESS- We anticipated 250-300..Hoped for 500…GOT between 1,300 and 1,400. MSM, as always, played down, or ridiculed us, even they even covered it. Listen all, we have to be heard….and we need to pressure the MSM for that….TV Sweeps week is coming up very soon and that;s where the networks set their ad rates from. Will be contacting the organizers nationwide as soon as I have all the specifics, and this will require a bit of sacrifice on all our parts if CBS, NBC, or ABC has any shows that you can’t live without, but…if we boycott these networks during sweeps week, it just has to impact their ad rates and bottom lines. LET’S HIT EM THE ONLY PLACE THEY FEEL IT…IN THEIR WALLETS! Especially those facists Immelt and Zucker at NBC. If we organize it right and we mas email those pinheads a day or two before sweeps start I think we can impact them….We’ll send them all thousands of ransom notes…and then boycott them anyway….THOUGHTS ANYONE

Didn’t realize the “reply” button below a comment wouldn’t nest it or point it to the user I had hit “reply” to. Apologies.

  5. I don’t think we need a new political party called the “Tea Party”, I think people who really oppose big government and the two current parties and are open to equity and fairness to all while minimizing the government’s role should just join the Libertarian party. They are the force that started this movement anyway (from my understanding).

  6. John N White says:

I was a volunteer at the Des Moines IA Tea Party and estimate 3500 at the largest point. This was a huge success and the brightest example of americans at work, very diverse and people of all ages. The area below the capitol was a sea of people and folks picnicing on the grass children running and rolling down hill in the grass. Wolud have made a great Norman Rockwell.

  7. LJ says:

Ft. Lauderdale had about 3000 (Sun Sentinal stated 2500 plus a couple hundred) but they don’t know cause they didn’t bother to show up

MIami had 2000 at last count

    West Palm around 1000

The party in Colorado Springs was awesome! Huge crowd. Everybody energized, friendly, upbeat and ready to rock and roll. Flash to Mr. Obama: Many of your supporters/voters were in attendance. The change you are bringing is not what they signed on for and they have Buyer’s Remorse. WE ALL NEED TO KEEP THIS MOMENTUM GOING! What a moment in our history…democracy at work even though the media thinks we are moron’s.

  10. ALV says:

The Tea Party at Stuart, Florida was a blast. My best guess is well over 1,000. Started in front of the downtown Post Office and the crowd eventually stretched out along US1 for about 3 blocks. Lots of rubbernecking cars honking their horns and giving thumbs up.

  11. shadow says:

If this doesn’t get their attention we should all file exempt . they can’t stop us we have no representation . and it is against the constitution to tax us without representation. If no money flows into washington , who will pay their bills . We need to fire the lot and get new people in there. People who know what it is like to be poor and people who were born in this country. Yes I Am an extremist i’m tired of the fat cats getting fatter and my wallet getting thinner.

  12. Nancy Schobert-Entrup says:

I used to be so proud of being an American directly desended from a plymouth colony resident Issac Allerton. Read the book Mayflower he worked for William Bradford. I believe now that most of our Constitutional rights are gone.

We are Taxed without regard for the result. Which is the “elimination” of any possibility of an American Dream for many of us. As a person who has worked and worked all my life and since 2001 been effected by almost continually being on unemployment in upstate New York. I have a good viewpoint of what has happened to the working persons American Dream. People who work at my level of the picture work without hope, they live without hope and they see no light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you Americas and New York States greedy politicians. Everyone knows taking hope away from anyone is the worse thing a person or a country can do to anyone. This is happening in America in massive amounts of situations. American leaders and Industrial leaders in this country are making our Constitution a lie for so many Americans.

With my personal heritage of being directly related to someone who was on the Mayflower. I often wonder what would they would feel if they could see what greed has done to a land they came to not out of greed but out of the genuine emotion and desire to be free.

Please someone , one honest man , if there is one. Listen to what the people at the Tea Parties are really saying. We want the American Dream back for everyone, not for just a select few. Distribute the wealth evenly, feed and take care of all of our children, stop excessive taxation of people who cannot afford it, give us back the dream. And please give it back to my children and yours. America will progressively become a hell for future generations if American leaders do not make this happen NOW and as quickly as possible.

This cry from the Tea Parties should not be ignored. For freedoms sake please listen.

  13. William Morey says:

Funny, I see all these pundits from the DNC Media outlets trashing the Tea Parties as Republican Tea Parties, yet I saw people protesting from different Political Parties, different races, and different sexes. Pretty much people who are just Fed Up with Big Government Thugs from all the Parties. The People want their Government back from the Hugo Chavez clone in the White House, and the Corrupt Ego Driven incompetents in the House & Senate. They want honestly, sincerity, and responsibility re-established.
This is something the Entitlement Queens, and the Main Stream DNC Media just can’t quite understand, so you automatically label these people as Right Wing Extremist.

I wanted to attend, but had dental surergy and just couldn’t do it. But I WILL attend the next Tea Party. Thanks for all those that did show up to help save the Country.

  14. Marilyn Kay Smith says:

Yes, we did it! Can we show Washington our strength? “Yes, we can”!!! We were hoping for 100 people in Adrian, MI. 267 people show up without putting an notice in the paper or on the radio. Just tea party websites and word of mouth.

The Patriots cheered, yelled and got involved. It was an awesome crowd. Thanks Adrian!

  15. Jenna says:

We all took off work and attended the Tea Party in Greensburg, PA. Over 1500 people showed up *in the rain* and we had a blast standing shoulder to shoulder with other Americans! One of the highlights was how many cars and trucks were honking their horns in support as they drove by. No troublemakers at all, just great Americans. Wow.

  16. Paul Wehr says:

Ann Arbor news reports 450 in Washtenaw County, including 200 in Ann Arbor. Having been at the Ann Arbor event, I would say that number is about right.

FWIW, These numbers don’t seem to be included in the total at http://www.pjtv.com/?cmd=tea-party

  17. virginiaday says:

We went to the Tea Party in Georgetown, Delaware in one of the worst nor’easters of the current season. There were approximately 200-300 brave souls waving their flags and showing their support for this movement. I must say that the most “right wing radicals” I saw was a couple who must have been in their 80’s, she on a cane in a housedress with bare legs and clogs and he helping her and carrying the umbrella. How proud I was to be in their company. They should have never been out in that storm with hardly any protection, but there they were.

  18. Douglas Roth says:

We had 110 in Winamac, IN - a town of about 2,000. Half were local, half drove as the next nearest event was more than an hour away. We had folks who drove from as far as Plymouth and Kokomo - 45min - 1hr drive. I think that is testament to the shared feeling of disgust with Washington, D.C. 100 was the number I had in my head going into this thing. I would have loved to have had 1,000, but I think a lot of folks have given up hope, like they don’t have a voice. That was the point of my little Winamac Tea Party - to unite rural Hoosiers with a voice that can’t be ignored. Regardless of who sits in Congress to represent our district, they act like the entire district is composed of South Bend and Kokomo, but there is so much more between the two. I think it is crucial for us to keep the momentum we have created over the last couple weeks. Most of the attendees at the WInamac Party want another rally over the Independence Day holiday, and I am inclined to agree. I spent about 10 days organizing this event - which was not enough time. I got plenty of ideas and suggestions from family and friends, but little to no help (partly due to rtime constraints and partly due to my OCD!). I think with a little more time and planning, I can get the message out to 1,000 in July. Anyone else planning on organizing more events in the near future? Thanks to everyone who planned or attended a tea party, and thanks to the few in the media that took the time to cover this movement. God bless you alll, and God bless America!

  19. Scott Evans says:

Attended the Oswego, IL Tea Party… was not expecting a large turnout since it was at 5:30pm and there was not alot of information out there on what would be happening. Instead, what I found was hundreds of cars, parking at a minimum, and easily hundreds of people in this small western burb of Illinois. Pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scotriani/sets/72157616772284217/

P.S. - anyone wanting high resolution versions of the pics, just pop me a line through flickr and I will be glad to help!

  21. Eric says:

200 in Flemington NJ, on the steps of the old courthouse where Charles Linberg’s baby kidnapping trial was held so long ago. We slowed traffic on main street; gaukers and honking horns…very cool! Trenton NJ held a much larger event not 15 miles away so 200 in Flemington on a cold rainy day where we had to attend on our lunch hour, not bad!

  22. maggiemay says:

500 in Hollidaysburg PA. in the pouring rain.

  23. dewind says:

Grand Rapids MI, official number was 3,600.

  24. Ron Larkin says:

I was at The Alamo,,home of Texas Liberty,,,,with 20,000 of our friends and neighbors, Glen Beck did his Fox TV show live,,,Ted Nugent gave an awe inspiring rendition of Our Natinal Anthem,,,,,Joe Pags broadcast live at 5 cdt,,Alamo Plaza was shoulder to shoulder,,,Hemisphere Plaza was opened as a back up with jumbotrons,,,What a fantastic experience,,,,Our Congress Man Charlie Gonzalez decided to stay home,,,He knew he was the problem,,so decided to save himself some embarrasment. Maybe he decided to stay home and read the bill to figure what all the fuss is about. Pelosi didnt get the message either,,,and Reid was stone silent,,,probably charting a route for that high speed train to run from Disneyland to Las Vegas through his desert land,,,Of course the rail line will have to buy Right of Way which I’m sure King Harry will be more than happt to negotiate a price with them. All in all we had a great day,,now to move on to more important measures,,,do we stay with the Union, or do we Secede,,,Gov Perry has given us that option,,,I dont mind one bit being a citizen of the Republic of Texas,,rather than The USA..last year 70% of all new jobs created in the United States was created right here in Texas,,,we dont need the USA holding us back,,or holding us down with taxation that loses jobs,,,Secession is not a bad thing, it is a Golden opportunity.,There was signs all over Alamo Plaza today, asking to Secede…It would not be hard for a majority of Texans to bring Secession to fruition,,,,,Ron Larkin,,San Antonio,,,,,,,GO Airborne,,,

    Albuquerque, NM

According to the news tonight, they estimate that we had close to 10,000 people at Albuquerque’s Tea Party. We didn’t have any speakers or special music. We just had Patriots and signs and we stood along Montgomery Blvd. which is the busiest street in town. Our group stretched from Carlisle to Juan Tabo, which according to Map Quest is exactly 5 miles. We lined BOTH sides of the street. That’s 10 miles of people! That’s some grass roots event.

  28. Kevin Bush says:

Attended the Reston, VA Tea Party. We had about 200-300, but I saw 400 listed above. It was raining and we’re in a pretty liberal area of the state, so I’d say that was a pretty good turn out. =] Rock on Tea Partiers!

Don’t let the movement stop here!

  29. Shane says:

For the Tea Party in Eau Claire Wisconsin we figure roughly 500 attended, over about a 2 hour period. We will be trying to count contact info and heads, via pictures, to try and narrow in on more firm number.

  33. StagingLt says:

I stopped by Southern Pines, NC today, where roughly 300 people gathered in front of the post office. Nearly all of the cars that passed by on the street honked their horns in support.

  35. Frenchy says:

I think now that we have learned how to gather together, we should probably get our message across to the main stream media. I might suggest a nationwide gathering at TV stations.

I also like the idea of maybe forming a new political party called the “Tea Party”.

  36. Ernie Schenk says:

Local news stated over 3,000 people showed up at the Albany Tea Party at the Corning Preserve today.

  37. Valorie says:

We had around 250 at our rally in McKinney, Texas and it was a really last minute thing too. Very proud of our town and the honking horns signaled that many more were “with us”.

  38. when do we start the real fight?

  39. James Bowen says:

I’m not good at estimating the size of crowds of people, esp. when I’m in the middle of them, but I’d say there were 150+ in Walla Walla, WA. It was seriously quite huge.

To put that in perspective, Walla Walla has a population of 30,000. That’s half a percent of the population showing up for a protest planned 10 days ahead of time with even less time listed online, and no directions.

  40. tom says:

I ATTENDED THE SPOKANE WASHINGTON TEA PARTY AND THERE were upwards of 3,000 people in attendance as well as 100 s more honking their horns as they drove by. I had to smile when a City Bus Driver honked his horn. The only “damp” moment was when a State Representative showed up to tell us how concerned she was about our cause and that she would relay it back to Olympia. I dont think she went over very well since she and others have NOT been listening in the past. I think we have had enough of their NON representation.

Hey tea partyers! Report from the granite state, home of the lowest tax burden in the nation. I attended the Manchester (NH’s largest city) rally and was in awe of the crowd, I’d estimate nearly 2,000! Very encouraging to see normal folks from all walks of life, old, young, white, black, asian what have you coming together to say enough with the federal monstrosity. Let us keep this momentum going!

  43. Art says:

2,500 to 3,000 party goers showed up in Las Vegas at Sunset Park :)

  44. Are there plans for this to continue?

  45. AndyMon says:

An estimated 2000 folks attended the Tea Party in Punta Gorda, Florida. Great spirit, great crowd. It was amazing to see all the people carrying and wearing signs and flags as we marched across the Peace River bridge from Punta Gorda north to Port Charlotte and stood lining the considerable span. Virtually every passing car honked in supported. I only noticed one elderly woman driver flipping us the bird. Showed a lot of class. Sheesh. I guess she likes the gov’t controlling her addled mind.
All in all, the day was inspiring and I can only hope that the momentum continues to build and the crowds get bigger and bigger in the future. The work is only starting!
