The in-the-tank MSM took a decisive step toward irrelevance yesterday. Or so I am told. Live-blogging the Tax Day Tea Party news coverage, I didn’t pay all that much attention.
Instead, I was screening hundreds of stories coming directly from on-line publications and blogs in actual cities and towns and counties across the country, unfiltered by the Media Centers. By my estimate, most of the stories that caught my eye played it pretty straight … leaving out the nauseating, pro-Beltway P.R. shtick and, instead, allowing our action to stand on its own.
This is important because the Left’s playbook includes a) mis-defining our side, and b) preventing us from defining ourselves. Many will recognize the teachings of the iconic Chicago socialist Saul Alinsky, author of Rules for Radicals. (click here for a short Summary of Rules for Radicals.)
That’s why activists earned well-deserved kudos April 15. Congratulations to all who participated in Tax Day Tea Party events; for community-organizing and agitating for true social justice in the image of our Founding Fathers.
Take cheer that when it comes to news coverage, our side is breaking through - where it really counts — at home. Remember the words of President Ronald Reagan’s savvy congressional adversary Tip O’Neill: ‘All politics is local.’

The Left typically pays ‘their people’ to attend rallies. In fact, their protesters are actually government-funded. How does that figure? ACORN has long received federal handouts. And now, most union political dollars are taken from government employees, not from the private sector. This inconvenient truth is rarely noted in the MSM, and stands in stark contrast to our true social-justice force of volunteers.
I agree with Tim. The Republicans left me behind years ago. I feel liked I am forced to vote for them because they are the lesser of the evils, but I hate it so badly I consider not voting any longer. How do we get great candidates to run as a third party candidate? It will take years to make the change but we have to start sometime, why can’t it be today?
Let’s march on D.C. on July 4th, 2010…scare the hibbie-ba-jibbies out of politicians who are up for re-election in November 2010!!!
I meant more visibility at the transportation hubs
I am fed up with the out of control spending mentality of the current administration. I am very concerned about that my 2 yr daughter will be forced to pay a 50% tax when she starts working due to the decisions of our current leaders.
I have never voted in my life. I am totally against the Democratic spending spree. I am not sure if I would consider myself Republican either.
In my area, there was a party at City Hall and at the Hicksville Mall. As a professional with family obligations, I was unable to attend the tea party. I would suggest that future tea parties be held at locations with more foot traffic , such as major transportation hubs where there is more such as Penn Station, Port authority and or Grand Central. Perhaps even Bryant Park.
Lets face it. With the power and control held by the Democrat and Republican parties there is little room for fresh ideas, let alone true representation. We divide the world into Liberal and Conservative. What if a new party was formed that was based on personal freedom and states rights? If we suspect our current parties are taking us to a tyrannical conclusion, let’s take that issue head on.
The Democrats and Republicans currently control the game. Well lets change the game! Yesterday I change my party affiliation to “UNAFFILIATED”. I no longer want to be used as a Party statistic.
What do you think?
Unfortunately, people who aren’t politically involved–and that’s probably a majority of Americans–didn’t see coverage in blogs or the new media. Possibly they caught a snippet or two from the MSM ridiculing or dismissing or mis-characterizing the event. How to reach these people? Everyone needs to talk to friends and relatives and work buddies about what’s going on. The movement is just getting started I hope… http://www.shirts4freedom.com
Getting a lot of good comments about tea parties regardless of the media who wants to fight them.
One thing that is important, IMO, is to let people know that it is not just GOPS that participated Democrats and Independents held parties and participated in parties, yet the media keeps saying the GOPS are the only ones having a problem as they get ready for the 2010 election Obama is an issue for many.
Lets march on Washington next. Name the date and I will take a vacation day unlike the people during the Obama inauguration.
The clowns in congress and the president need to be replaced
