Hey Michael, you are right on the money, with lawyers in congressional positions. Most people don’t realize that we have the most incarcerated citizens of any free country in the World. Why? Because we elect Lawyers who contintinue to modify our rights with nonsense laws that are meant to keep the masses in check. These self serving officials are only doing the bidding of the lobbists who put them in office. Take the foxes out of the hen house.
Small problem, Congress don’t care what we do or say. ONLY solution is to QUIT electing LAWYERS, and send people to DC that pump their own gas, cut their own grass, and stand in line at a grocery store to buy food that has some-assembly-required. Just like we do.
We need to scream loud and long across the nation that we are not happy but say it like this: “I am not happy Mr. or Mrs. representative. Do I make myself clear?”
The idea of the tea parties is great! To peacefully protest in every state across the country in almost every major city, is a great idea. If the bought off news media lies to the “ostrich public” that things are going well and that everyone is happy with what is being done to us then maybe this will convince them that things aren’t right in Mayberry. There are so many things being said now that I, my friends, and family do not believe in that I want to just puke. Our financial freedoms as guaranteed in the constitution are being violated, stolen, and lied about. The time to speak up is now.
“The truth is this: our politicians and policymakers could have averted this crisis with the powers and mandates they already possessed—but didn’t. And our children and their children will pay the price. But rather than provide taxpayers with a careful accounting of how they precipitated the meltdown, and how they’re now using our money to bail out the bankers, our representatives in Washington are rushing to advance a flurry of proposals that would dramatically increase their powers.
All this puts me in mind of an analogy. Having stocked the fridge with Stoli and Bud, a pair of irresponsible parents decamp for a long weekend away after exhorting their teenage children to enjoy themselves. Upon returning home, the couple is shocked to discover that their progeny have hosted a riotous party in their absence and thoroughly trashed the house. The parents’ exculpatory response: blame poor enforcement of underage drinking laws and demand tougher penalties.
It’s not capitalism that has failed us, but those we trusted to make capitalism work. Before we throw any more bricks at the bankers, let’s remember: If a crisis is so big that it can only be solved by government, it was probably caused by government.
As citizens, we are demanding that reckless bankers be held responsible for their actions. But what about feckless politicians? Who’s going to hold them responsible? Who’s going to fix the political system that undermined the financial system?” — Gary Hamel
jrc suggests that a person ought to have knowledge of the Revolution of 1776 and then cites Paine’s “Common Sense”, and the Federalist Papers as must reads. Perhaps jrc ought to bone up on history—the Federalist Papers were drawn up after the Revolution was over and the first Constitution—the Articles of Confederation— was already in place. And Thomas Paine—he was a socialist cut from the same cloth as the radicals of the French Revolution—in fact he left the US for France during those times because he was disappointed with the unradicalism of the American Revolution and went to support the French one as meeting his ideals of a new social order. Tom Paine is no American hero. He wrote nice words, but advocated bad practice (as our current presidential administration is proving to do).
Instead, lets look at ideas of the Enlightenment thinkers, such as John Locke, that the founders drew their inspiration from, as well as the writings of our true American heroes, such as Jefferson, Madison, et al.
I ask but two things of my representatives in Washington – heed your constituents and be fiscally responsible. Instead, they heed the special interests and donors that keep them in power and substitute there personal values for the wisdom of the people. (I wonder if any of them have read “The Wisdom of Crowds”?)
In order to make changes, the people must first get their attention. Certainly the Tax Day Tea Party is doing that. But protest alone is not enough. To be truly effective, there must be an economic impact. The greater the pain the more they will heed the people. We need to let them know that we are sick of their behavior.
So to that end I propose that on Monday, June 15th, we have a National ‘Sick-Out’. Everyone who is able should call-in sick and take the day off. Then, on that day, walk the streets of your city carrying small American flags. This is NOT a formal protest or gathering or march, and as such it will not require permits. This is passive resistance with an economic impact.
If 1,000,000 people do this, Congress WILL take our message to heart – we are sick of self-aggrandizing, self-dealing, disconnected, career politicians who spend more time grubbing for reelection money than studying the bills they pass. Our representatives should serve two terms as service to their country and then return to “real jobs in the real world”.
If anyone truly believes that the new Socialist Left is composed of our ‘countrymen’, or our ‘friends’, whom we must treat with ‘respect’, I say that that person has no knowledge or familiarity with the revolution of 1776. I think such persons should do a bit of serious research - try ‘Common Sense’ (Thomas Paine), ‘The Federalist Papers’ - Madison et al,
and try reading the REAL constitution - not the twisted propaganda maintained by our far-left “Law Schools”. A “Living Document” indeed - what a fundamentally dishonest concept.
No, my friend. The Socialist Leaders ARE the very embodiment of Anti-American ‘Ideas’ - their very faces represent these ideas both here and abroad. They are PROPER subjects for posters and protests.
Unfortunately, this statement is badly misguided. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc have so damaged America, its ideals, its government, and its reputation, that their ‘personalities’, even their facial images, ARE IDEAS. They EMBODY ideas.
Impeach now, or their will be some kind of reckoning. I pray to my God that it will be peaceful. In the meantime, I have no intention of avoiding insults to the socialists left. They are our ENEMIES, not our fellow countrymen. They are in the same position as the Tories were in 1773 - they have no honor, no respect, from me or any true patriot.

They will become so, very soon, in any case.
