This post is really in place to clarify a statement I made last week. I have suggested on several occasions that we as a movement need to view this as a war, and I truly believe that to be the case.
As I’ve mentioned before, our government has looked the camera in the eye and openly declared war on our way of life.
“We’re going to force you to do this or that, we’re going to take this liberty and that freedom from you, we’re coming after your free speech, we’re watching your every move, etc”
We’ve all heard it. We’ve all seen it. Yet I got a few replies telling me I should be careful and try not to use the word war. Which seems a little bizzare to me considering the circumstances.
Let’s face the facts here, the thugs in Washington are waging a war against us. There is no way to sugar coat that. They wish to dramatically change this country and to do so requires that they strip us of our ability to be politically active and financially strong.
In war, you want to cut off communication, freeze all financial assets, and disrupt the political system. Doesn’t that sound eerily familiar?
It does. And it’s because our own government is waging war against us right here in our own back yards. They’ve set up a mechanism through which they can control the economy, they’re close to controlling all forms of communication, and they’ve completely gutted our political system by letting lawyers run Congress for far too long.
This machine doesn’t care about our protests. They don’t care if we march on Washington. They don’t care if we win a battle here and there. They don’t care how big our movement gets.
All they care about is full and total control over our lives. And they’ll do whatever is necessary to obtain it.
As an American, I recognize this as an act against my life and liberty. I recognize this as a declaration of war against me.
It is what it is folks.

This may be a war, but it is not a violent one (except for the SEIU). We win this war with petitions, drives, marches, coordination, and most of all…VOTES.

War is an appropriate word for the attack on freedom! Trust me, as I live it everyday here in Massachusetts, with our mandatory healthcare laws and over taxation. Small businesses are suffering here, closing their doors, and they will all over this country if we do not stand up and voice our opposition.

I went to the Tea Party Express Bus rally Tuesday night as it passed by in Brunswick , GA . It is war a lot of us are Christians and we know the ending of the story . We have had it too good for too long and while we are awake we need to rally our family and friends who are apathetic . It will get rough so we should practice ascetism , self denial , as good soldiers endure hardship for the benefit of others , and not forget no greater love is there than this that a man lay down his life for a friend . Those of you with an active prayer life pray for courage and strength . According to a Barna survey after 9/11 when Christains should have been strong and the ones to comfort others they had to be consoled . Toughen up you soldiers of the cross !

Our local tea party group is going to become heavily involved in the Republican Party and the precinct/primary process. I believe a third party just divides and dilutes us. I also think we now have the numbers to influence the R party to promote the conservative candidates which we so desparately need. Getting control of the “people’s house” should be our prime objective next November. If we control just that portion of congress we can start the process of a “regressive” agenda to take our country back to what we patriots have “ALWAYS BEEN PROUD OF”!!

In the spirit of the Tea Party movement, we turn off the finances the government needs to operate on a daily basis. Small business pays about 85% of the taxes and in conducting this war to regain our freedoms, small business and patriots should adjust their W-4 and stop withholding Federal Income tax. The “Coach” started this movement by saying this on Fox News, and it takes a large number to provide the protection necessary. If those paying the taxes refuse, we cannot be easily ignored - especially if Russo is right, and an “involuntary federal income tax” has been found to be unconstitutional by the U. S. supreme court in several decisions AFTER the 16th amendment
Be careful about lawyer cracks - yes, I am a lawyer, however, most of the framers of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were lawyers. The United States is one of the few countries in the world that has a class of persons dedicated to fighting for individual rights - and they are lawyers.
Lawyers, like most identifiable groups of people, have human faults and frailties and occasionally do unsavory things. That doesn’t excuse the behavior of those individuals, but let’s punish the individuals and not tar the entire group.
If there are stupid laws that allow attorneys to churn particular cases for fee generation, then change the laws. There is no doubt that the ABA is a large and frankly liberal lobby. I renounced my ABA membership years ago. But then strange pronouncements have been coming from the American Chamber of Commerce and the American Medical Association lately.
It’s time to stop pointing fingers and time to start fighting for individual liberty - including the principles enunciated in our founding documents - documents written by lawyers. Denigration of lawyers does nothing to foster respect for the rule of law and the Constitution on which it is based.
I hope all of you are aware that this administation is now going to mugg the Civil Service appointees by aperforming a purge of republican appointees retroactive as far back as five years.

On a constructive note, you might be taken more seriously if you talked about Bush’s warcrimes, wiretappings, no-bid contracts, illegal detentions, etc. You might also receive more creditability if you learn to spellcheck your work. Eric, You’re right it is war. Those of us that realize this are ready to fight. We HAVE to get the rest of the people woke up to how bad it really is. I have friends that moan and groan about how bad things have gotten with the government - YET THEY DO NOTHING. I am ready with whatever I have to give.

By the way, I found that if you go on the AMA website to ‘contact us’ you can write them a little note letting them know what you think about their stance on government healthcare. Keep those letters going to the House & Senate too. Remember to compliment them when they vote For the people.
In my opinion the big gatherings are great but, its even better when you have an opportunity to educate. I love the small town halls where people actually have questions and learn the details. We had a small town mtg last week and actually converted 3 libs on the healthcare issue when our speaker (MD)gave them facts to swallow.

The slippery slope created will implode our Democracy and shred the fabric of our Country. The legalese alone is enough for States to challenge their enumerated rights. I could not agree with you more, sir. Evil powergrabbers have always been with us and always will be. It’s just human nature unfortunately. Some people are good and others are not. We will always have this struggle. The 2010 congressional elections and the 2012 presidential and congressional elections are of supreme importance. I’m 51 years old and have always voted. Never missed an election. The 2008 election was the most important in my life and the only one in which I donated money and time - knocking on doors for McCain and Palin. 2010 and 2012 will be even more important. We all must have this attitude. WE MUST NEVER GIVE UP! Thank God for people like us, the internet, talk radio and Fox News.

Originally I became a member of this org to find news of local and national tea party gatherings in the offing. So far the only one posted is to take place on Tax Day April 15th 2010.

Impeachment is a good idea as well. Don’t know what the process is or if it can be initiated by a citizen or not?

Flying your American Flag upside down is the signal of distress. In order for that to be an effective demonstration, the Tea Party group must promote this act of defiance. Personally, I think it would be a really good idea and if many people did the same all across the country it sure would make a statement.
And, after all, an upside down American Flag would be very consistant with what the liberals are trying to do to our country and our way of life…

Need some new and novel or not so novel ways to create momentum and greater membership and suppor. Perhaps a “Tea Party” flag or banner which members would display at their homes, perhaps a bumber sticker campaine with simple to understand messages which would change often…
I wish there was something which we as a group could withhold from the government to cause them to take notice and at the same time gain much more public support for the cause? Any ideas?

amen–we MUST restore the balance of power to our government, which means with the DEMS running (or ruining) the executive branch, we must have Republican control in the legislative branch. Balance is key to controlling the power in Washington.
Eric: My wife, Joan, and I will be getting back to you about helping designs plans for 2010 and 2012. Before, we do that, I wanted you to know I ran for the US Senate in Minnesota in 1996 as a Republican but at that time the Minnesota Republican Part was the I-R Part. The party then was quite successful in winning all open seats for the Minnesota State Legislature. Now the MInnesota Republicans have dropped the I from their party and that is one reason Minnesota has become even more liberal than before. Tim Pawlenty won the Governor’s race partially because he benefited by what the Conservative pro-Life I-Rs had done previously. One question for us is do we want to be a third party and fight with the Republicans and the Democrats or do we want to take over the Republican Party or make it the I-R Party nationwide.
