Today’s poll from Rasmussen is very telling in many ways. The poll, released this morning, suggest that the GOP base IS the liberty movement. And right now, that base has left the party.
In a three-way Generic Ballot test, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds Democrats attracting 36% of the vote. The Tea Party candidate picks up 23%, and Republicans finish third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided.
Among voters not affiliated with either major party, the Tea Party comes out on top. Thirty-three percent (33%) prefer the Tea Party candidate, and 30% are undecided. Twenty-five percent (25%) would vote for a Democrat, and just 12% prefer the GOP.
Among Republican voters, 39% say they’d vote for the GOP candidate, but 33% favor the Tea Party option.
This is good for our movement because it proves what we’ve been saying all along… the two major parties have been courting the wrong crowd. Especially the Republican Party.
I mean, recent polls make it clear that the dominating ideology in America is conservatism. This poll makes it clear that the dominating part of the Republican base is the liberty movement, not the moderates.
Many within the movement are not Republican and never have been, but I think it’s safe to say that the majority of the movement strongly opposes efforts by Democrats to destroy our country.
This was the major problem with John McCain, in my opinion. McCain is a moderate. And while many claimed it was for different reasons, I believe he lost because he had nothing significant to offer the liberty movement. Obama on the other hand promised his base a free ride in life.
It’s wild that Republicans can’t seem to grasp the simplicity of the situation. We’re not asking for freebies, we’re not asking for handouts… we’re instead just asking for our right to be free. We’re asking for representation that will protect our liberty, not trample it.
So, I think this poll makes a few things clear for us. First, Republicans can’t win without the movement. Second, the movement can’t win without the party. At least not in the short term.
If this polling data is correct, then we fail the second we split the vote that opposes Democrats.
This is only my opinion, of course. And I would certainly love to hear yours.
NOTE: In 2010 we need to remain focused. And our focus needs to be on removing big government thugs from office. Starting with those who support healthcare, cap and trade, bailouts and other dangerous legislation.
We already have term limits. That is what a vote is. Use your vote to reject those who refuse to follow the Constitution or the principles of capitalism. I live in Michigan and we have term limits here and they do not do the job of controlling the corruption.
A third party will dilute our power. Although I understand and sympathize with those who would like a third party, we need to take our country back first by voting out the radical leftists in the Congress and Barack Obama. Our best shot is to get involved in the primaries and promote conservative candidates in the GOP.
We must defeat those that would like to take our country towards socialism, we all know that clearly, the Democrat party has been overtaken by Socialist, Marxist, and Communist. I am sure there are some very good Democrats that love this country as much as we do and really believe the Democrat party is moving in the right direction, sadly they are gravely mistaken…they must at all cost be defeated. I believe we should take back the Republican party, we need to have Constitutional Conservatives running under the Republican ticket in the primaries, and the people as a whole will decide which candidate they want and the one they believe to be most viable…It is almost a sure guarantee if we do not come together on this the progressive liberal Democrats will remain in office and consider it to be a mandate to swing towards socialism…the choice really is yours…takeover the Republican party and restore it to it’s founding principles….or, an even faster downhill slide into socialism!
with the lesser of the evils
By now it should be apparent to all that we can’t take over either party. Indeed, there is a great deal of evidence that Neo-Cons are infiltrating the Tea party with the objective of driving us back to the same partisan policies and agenda that have failed us in the past. Objectively, we should be working to identify and support true conservative candidates and incumbents at every level of government. Further, we must now focus on establishing our own ‘term limits’ policies to prevent long serving bureaucrats and politicians from ever again creating a power base that undermines the will of America’s citizens. Two terms in the Senate, and three terms in the House should be our defining objective.
A 3rd party is good for democrats, lets take back the republican party. Get rid of the John Mccains in the party. No more RINO’s. Put real conservitives on the ballots, they will win. Merry Christmas my fellow patriots and God Bless America.
It was a great survey. I remember when Perot ran against Bubba and Bush Sr. I then like now was disgusted with the Dem/Repub alignment and voted for Perot. This choice lead to the election of Bubba. I am reluctant to vote third party as much as I think it is what we dearly need. There are only a few good men and women in the Federal legislature. They are chameleons. They will change on a dime if the pressure is right, but in reality all they want is to preserve their life style. A third party would make them run with open arms to a more empathetic relationship with their constituents. I would support a third party if I believed it would not insure a Dem victory, been there done that. Now, I will vote as a conservative, and for the most constitutionally orientated candidate. This is why the tax day tea party is so important, It will give us a voice that the nearly deaf will hear.
God Bless
Tom Mulrooney
Eric,
Thanks for your efforts at moving us forward and giving a chance for open debate on our direction.
I for one would love a third party, but I know that we cannot split the vote and win, we’ll lose big and that is unacceptable. If we take over the Republican party which I think the NY 23 election shown that our votes are powerful enough to do, we can have their ear and hopefully begin getting true representation.
Those who wish to work at infiltrating the Democratic party can do so, but their arm twisting tactics and solidarity have shown that they choose candidates that will go along to get along and then bribe the rest for their votes. It should be broken up, but that is a bigger effort. Tackle this on top of moving the Repubs and now we have our nation back!
I say let’s unite to the extent that we can to win back the Republican seats and at least we will have a bit more balance to this unchecked power grab going on now.
Thanks for leading the charge, Eric. Our hopes and future are hanging in the balance here.
“If they are in–vote them out!!” They have proven they have no business experience at all and this country is a business which is in desperate need of
leadership. I’m all for the tea party but honestely, I think we should follow the above rule. I also like two term limits but think that is a lost cause.
I sent a postcard to one of the democrate senators yesterday telling him that Obama will probably tell him that the “tea baggers” will not vote for him even if he votes against the health care bill. I told him Obama doesn’t know how we will vote.
Each of us is limited on how many we can vote for at the ballot. But those of us who can still afford to make contributions can vote for anybody in the country with our financial support.
But even then we will have to chose where we think our dollars will do the most good.
In general I agree with the person above who said he/she don’t believe in focusing on social issues, but keep the focus on fiscal responsibility and the protection of our liberties. I don’t think the teaparty movement will be able to say support XYZ and have everyone who rallied vote for that person. I think the average teaparty person thinks for himself more than the average person.
If as a group we can identify those who whatever label they run under corrupt, lyers, in the pocket of special interest etc who have a better basis to chose. I agree with someone from St. Louis teaparty who suggested its better to donate to individual candidates and not just a political party.
While I am a hard-core Conservative, I think it would be best to take over the Democrats, as the problem is the Democrats were taken over by the hard-left, and if we are going to restore America back to a political balance from which we can begin to restore our nation to a Constitutional Republic, instead of a plaything for George Soros, we need to first restore the Democrats to a loyal opposition instead of a pack of treasonous thugs.
The National Republican Party has a platinum conservative platform but rusted tin leadership. If we can get Republican incumbents who stood on the platform during the campaign and then lept off of it as soon as the election was won replaced by TRUE conservative statesmen (note: not pragmatic politicians) in the critical upcoming primary election in March, that is the best way to go. There is absolutely nothing wrong with our platform–no need to throw out the baby AND the bathwater. Just recruit, support and work for those candidates who are committed to our values and principles. Third parties are spoilers for conservatives (anyone remember Ross Perot who gave Clinton TWO victories in the 90’s?) Let’s take the Republican Party BACK from the moderate/liberals who have hijacked it!!! No more RINOS. Many incumbents are jumping from the Democrat ship onto the Republican decks because they see the handwriting on the wall. They will simply join the current RINOS–we don’t want or need them. The current RINOS coupled with Democrats in our state house and took over the Speaker’s position and you could sure tell a difference in the legislation that was passed in the 81st legislature. Outrageous. Pray for God to raise up an army of committed passionate patriots before the filing deadline. And then let’s get behind them!
No one knows which approach will work, if any.
If there is a solution, it will be found by utilizing the best talents and interests of those who are willing to participate.
That means that there will be some who will try to take over the monoply parties. Others will form citizen lobbies. Others will launch and build third parites. And who knows what new ideas some others will develop.
Here is the key. When we start to see where the successes begin to emerge, everyone will join them in droves. Everyone needs to realize that we must promote freedom to choose methods in the freedom movement as the only way to maximize the chances of success.
We have gone through some turmoil in SC because of this very subject. We in Columbia SC will NOT endorse any candidates or party. We intend to inform voters of candidates and let the voters decide for themselves. If you intend to go forward and attempt to coordinate local Tea Party’s with the agenda of a voter bloc, you will lose more support than is worth.
I have not taken part in poll as my choice is not there, my choice is to take back BOTH partys’.
A third party vote would hand more power to the liberal democrats we need to take back the GOP and clean house.
We need to avoid any third parties. That would doom the movement to failure as it only tends to split votes. We most certainly align ourselves with the GOP because that will be the only way to even have a chance of breaking up the stranglehold currently held in our government by the Democrats. The GOP in the meantime needs to become more in tune with the ideology of our movement and take some ownership to it.
I would go for the party of less government. That would be the GOP. The Democrats have shown us all what they believe, and I don’t want any part of it. Clean up the GOP, since the majority of Americans say and poll, lean more to the conservative view. Moral by choice not by mandate, which is what a big Government party is all about. Whittle away the career political hacks and the liberal or moderate Republicans and we’d be closer to how our founding Fathers had envisioned.
For the primaries, we need to support conservatives candidates and make sure conservatives are chosen. For the general election we must hold to our values and vote conservative. The “moderates and leftists are what is making this country a mess.
I plan to ask candidates in primaries whether they support “big government & the taxes that go with that” and vote for anyone who says NO. There is not much difference between moderate Democrats or moderate Republicans.
We need to defeat any incumbent who has supported increased government programs (which is damn near everyone) and elect to Congress, people who return power to the people…….. not the Federal Government.
A third party is not the answer.Supporting the GOP,and conservative candidates is the only way to go.Get rid of all Rhinos and liberals in both parties.
We must select the best canidate available for job. If we vote along party lines we will have bunch of do nothings who put us the position we are currently in. What purpose would it serve. We need canidates who will stand up to their convictions,Put American intrest first, We need canidates who pay their taxes like the average american citizen, no one must get a free pass because of there political affilations,
Regardless weather they belong to the democratic or republican party.
Here are my 2-cents on the poll topic…Long-story-short: After voting in every state and federal election since my 18th birthday in 1976, I have come to the conclusion that the political parties muck-up things for the voters and candidates. The two old parties (Democrats and Republicans) are more about politics than good government and upholding the Constitution as it was written and intended. We currently have several third-parties in the U.S. and I often wonder if their members are included in the independent voter category or just disregarded. As a libertarian (note the lower case), who became a “big-L” Libertarian, after being both a recovering Democrat and recovering Republican, I have learned to vote for the individual candidate and/or issue, not the political party. The Tea Party movement started on issues and is driven by issues. Tea Party members and participants are a very diverse group of people who come together on issues, not politics. I hope the Tea Party movement is wise enough to work the issues and not fall into the trap of playing politics or political parties. Let’s keep playing outside the familiar box, so-to-speak. Let the political parties do there usual thing, while we build on the success the Tea Party movement has earned in its short life.
The arguments I just read mention an actual Tea Party to go up against the DNC or The GOP. I have never been a union-man, yet why not create a union that can cover both sides of the isle? Any politician that breaks his/her promise or pledge will simply get the axe.
I wonder if it’s possible to unionize all the Tea Parties. A TEA PARTY UNION is one I would consider joining. Maybe we could even get federal grant money to help us get organized. Obama favors unions so he shouldn’t object.
What is the definition of a Union if not workers organized against management? The present Democrat Administration & the Reed/Pelosi-ite Congress (read these as “Management”) are trying to take control of American lives & our economy. So, we unionize for better Health Care benefits, which management is trying to strip from us baby boomers. (We could have other goals, such as creating real jobs for the unemployed.)
The Tea Party Union would support reasonable Health Care. You fix only what needs to be fixed. Any sane person would fix a flat tire instead of building an entirely new car. A shinny new car is all Obama promised, even if it’s a grossly impractical one. “Management’s” track record is terrible.
This poll also shows what I have known for many years - Moderates are really Democrats who are afraid to admit it. Obama is one man who has been on the scene a short time so he is just a part of the problem. Most Democrats in the House and Senate have been there for 20 or 30 years but are just now showing their true colors. Liberals are liberals first and they may never change. Our best hope is to take over the Republican party candidate by candidate.
Some of the responses indicate that some have a problem separating individual candidates from the Republican party. This movement has had a huge impact on individual candidates. Some just needed to know that they were not alone. Others are starting to see the political reality. John McCain and Lindsay Graham are far more conservative and speak for conservative values much more today than they did 18 months ago. I still don’t trust them but I think it shows that the strength of this movement is the ability to affect change in the “other side of the same coin.”
Consevatives win by taking back Republican seats from those who have lost their way.
(1) Find good, honest conservatives to run in the Republican primary. If there had been a primary in NY23, Doug Hoffman would have won but he probably still needed our help.
(2) Take back the local and state Republican leadership from the precinct on up. This ensures that there will not be a repeat of NY23.
(3) Let our elected representatives know how we feel about the issues and that we expect them to take seriously their oath to support and protect the constitution.
(4) Provide support, particularly financial, to only those who demonstrate (not just talk about) conservative principles. I have considered myself a Republican since 1964, but I have let the Rep House and Senate election committees know that I will no longer contribute. I will no longer accept “the lesser of two evils” or “the other side of the same coin.” I and many others have let Michael Steele know that the RNC faces the same fate if he doesn’t strongly support conservative principles of limited government and fiscal responsibility.
(4) Take back the english language. Stop letting liberals use conservative words for liberal ideas and stop letting liberals define who we are and what we believe. All we heard from the liberals for the last 8 years were lies about GWB and the Rep party was nowhere to be found to correct the record.
(5) Educate the public, the candidates and especially ourselves to what conservative principles really mean.
For those of us who are still pondering what to do next, I think that Rush has it right answer again - “Be the go to guy (men and women) so that we can inform the uninformed. Rush has also been telling (loudly) the Republican party since before 2004 to get back to conservative principles or commit political suicide. They didn’t and it happened. But thanks to the many voices in this movement, I think we have a good chance to offer a real true alternative to liberal/progressive/socialist/marxist ideas.
[...] My most recent post over at TaxDayTeaParty.com has sparked a pretty intense debate over ideas of whe…. [...]
Yes, we need to take over the GOP, and
vote for the ones vith strong fiscal conservative views. Also, must weed out
RINOs such as the Snow job in Connecticut!
We must run against those RINOs liberaterians or conservatives under the Republican label.
For this we must do our research of all
reps and seator’s voting records and educate our members to to make sure in the primaries we run people who represent our views!
The Tea Party movement should be just that, a movement and we should endorse candidates regardless of party that will committee to make the changes we believe in
What are you smoking out there? RIGHT NOW, THIS VERY MINUTE the
maniacs are in charge. Our first job
is to vote them out. To this end, by all means stick it to the Republican candidates and make sure they know that if they do not uphold the original ideas of small government, low taxes, decency
and so forth, we WILL drag them out one-by-one. For now, however, we
need to vote them in to get the others out because if we don’t and
the Dems are allowed to continue as
they have been, there will be NO WAY to undo the destruction they will have wrought.
I think we are drinking our own Kool-Aid if we believe we can ‘take’ Congress. Ross Perot had a lot of
backing and a lot of money and he could not do it. Rome was not built in a day and neither will a third party.
Let’s first get rid of the nightmare that is the bulletproof Democrat majority and then go through the politicians one by one and replace them one by one IF they fail us.
I am very torn about this subject! Yes, we as a voting block need to teach (I think the Reps. more than the Dems.) a lesson. But to what extent do we at this particular time, do it? If Obama gets another four years, I can see many people literally starving in the streets, while the rest of us will be close to it. From the people that he has chosen to surround him I would not be surprised if he isn’t trying to start either a marxist party or a totalitarian type government, either way that goes, I do believe it is MUCH worse that going socialistic. He has moved at such a fast pace in such a short time, I am VERY afraid just what we would see of our great country 7 years down the road. Does anyone remember what Ross Perot brought to us?
If we lose in 2010 and 2012, we will never get this country back in my opinion. I say we need to take over the GOP. I do not believe a third party can win.
A 3rd party vote is like a vote for a Democrat. We need Republicans who will stand up for conservative values and help us correct the screwed up country they will inherit when the current fools from both parties are finally voted out of office.
I was one of the minority that believes the movement needs to take over the Democrats–not because I’m a Democrat (because I’m not)…but, simply because the political waves of Progressivism, Socialism, Communism has, for the most part, found its home in the Democrat Party and has infected the Republican Party to a lesser degree.
Also, while I like the idea of a third party to keep the other two more honest–I’m never sure how viable that is as a solution. If something like that is going to take place I believe the development of a third party needs to take place in an off-election year…since trying to do it during an election will probably only serve to re-elect this monstrosity we now have. And our first course of action needs to be to get rid of him.
I highly advocate conservatives, Republicans, and Libertarians who have more in common than not–having the cajones to start calling out Leftism by name. Whenever any political leader individually OR either party for that matter openly advocates the take over of massive parts of the economy we need to have the bravery to speak truth to power and call it Leftism and squash it as hard as it can be squashed then and there. I’m a big advocate of reversing “Rules for Radicals” and turning it against them as Allen West and others have suggested. Until we start to continuously do to Leftists what they have been doing to us–we will never beat back this monster.
I’m a big advocate of Ayn Rand’s economic ideas and until we seperate capitalism from all government control, revise how and from who politicians are allowed to take donations–then the politicians will continue to represent corporations and special interests rather than the will of the people. We will continue down the road of a government managed economy which has helped completely destroyed every previous Republic down through history. When citizens figure out they can vote themselves goodies and subsidies from the treasury and politicians learn to exploit that to keep themselves elected–then we will continue down the road to our destruction.
I agree with DannoJyd and Lee. A third party is NOT the answer, but an overhaul of the Republican party IS due and we have the momentum to do it. We have to remind them that we hold the Constitution inviolate and that if they don’t, they’re history. I like T Thomasen’s #5 especially. Congress shall live under the same laws they pass for us or they shall not remain in Congress.
NO INCUMBENTS IN 2010 !!!!!!!
I agree that the Republican Party needs the Tea Party movement, but disagree that we need the Republican Party to win. The Tea Party needs to seize the initiative and define the issues and principles that will win our vote and the Republican Party will have no choice but to find candidates who will sign on.
Our mission should be to restore limited government OF, By and For the People. Our Constitution was designed to have We The People represented by a limited, decentralized, federal government. Lest anyone be tempted to try to manipulate the Constitution toward centralization, the Tenth Amendment was purposely made the capstone of the Bill of Rights, to make it indelibly clear that the federal government was created by the States and the People and thus is our agent and not the other way around. The federal courts have aberrantly taken the Fourteenth Amendment’s “incorporation clause” out of context to imply federal jurisdiction over the States which was never the intent of that amendment.
We should never officially endorse a party, because We the People do not control the party. We need to control our elected officials. Thus, we need to support only those candidates who support the letter of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, with particular emphasis on the Tenth Amendment. Elected officials from both parties have violated that principle to the detriment of the States and the People.
The Highland Lakes Tea Party Coalition (in central Texas) is developing 5-10 limited government benchmark actions. We will submit that list of benchmarks to all officeholders and candidates within our jurisdiction, to explain how they will or will not support those actions and ask them to pledge to take those actions. We will report all responses to our membership and publicize them in the media.
We expect that most conservative candidates and officeholders will support those benchmarks, but will examine closely all responses for any hidden caveats and then evaluate all subsequent statements and votes by those individuals using the same benchmarks.
My votes will go to anyone that is not DEM or REP.
The Tea Party movement should seek out candidates to endorse in future elections. The candidates chosen by the Tea Party to be endorsed, whether Dem., Rep., or Ind. could then use the resources and fund raising capabilities of the Tea Party Organization while still receiving support from their political party. I can forsee the organization supporting candidates from all political affiliations Any effort to form a third party or take over the GOP will create far to many fights to be successful.
Third parties are not the future of the Tea Party Movement. The GOP and Democrats won’t ever let a 3rd party candidate participate, seriously, in a Presidential run. (Just look how they kept Ralph Nadar away in 2004 and 2008.)
The only way to make a difference, is to take over the Conservative Party - which has historically been the Republican Party. I don’t believe in focusing on social issues, such as abortion and gay marriage, because they’re not Federal issues. They’re State’s issues.
Stay focused on LOW TAXATION, SMALL GOVERNMENT, and FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY. These are basic pricipals EVERY American can latch onto, and we have to be able to articulate why they are SO important.
The 2009 TEA Parties began as an appeal to freedom from government control, just like the original Boston Tea Party. Aligning with either just the Republicans or just the Democrats is a mistake. We must make it clear this movement is about letting the people decide, not the politians. I’ve seen too many instances of either party trying to cram a candidate down the throats of the grassroot people, regardless of what’s being requested by the people. California’s upcoming senatorial race is a good example, where the RNC is choosing Carly Fiorina, yet the majority want Chuck DeVore.
The people didn’t join the TEA Parties because they wanted republican or democrat. If they did want that, they’d go to their local RNC or DNC office.
3rd party is the only long term answer. GOP and DNC are the same party.
The GOP will never turn to our values unless they are forced out of power all together. Yes it will no doubt mean DNC control for a long time. But in the long run we could win once the GOP is out of the picture.
WHAT?
Take Back the GOP = Take Back the USA
WHEN?
As Soon As Possible (target 2010). Bottom Line: As long as AND whatever it takes!
WHERE?
First, the RNC, then State by State
HOW?
-Market, Support and Promote (TPM) Conservatives
-Target & Expose NON-Conservatives in both parties-Start with the most vulnerable candidates
WHY?
To protect our country, our children and our posterity. And because it’s the RIGHT thing to do!
Multi-party systems are the backbone and the underpinning of many Governments. Too many parties and clashing points of view force coalition governments to be formed that are largely ineffective because they lack critical mass. Therefore, a critical mass of political intention is required for positive long term Governance.
The Republicans and the Democrats have both lost their way. Ego, Greed and a misunderstanding of the concept of POWER have eroded both parties into useless entities, which have become vulnerable to radical shifts in thinking. Both parties use Force to control their constituents. From the quid-pro-quo associated with political favors to the bus rides and payments of walk around money that buy votes on Election Day in the inner cities. It is all about the use of Force to develop, control and maintain a voter pool with minimal mental acumen that quickly becomes ambivalent to corruption and then elects radicals that promise “Hope and Change” to quickly stop the pain. The current Socialist administration, Acorn and the Al Gore’s use of ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ to tell a whopper of a lie are the most recent stunning examples.
This problem can not be corrected overnight and if tried will fail. Governance is difficult at best and requires compromise between the people that will have to pay the bills and reap the benefits. The problem we have is that we have far too many “Citizens” and “non-Citizens” that do not have a stake in the society but have a right to vote. Hard decisions need to be made by real Americans as to how to handle the problems created by the growing non-American population that the Democrats and the Republicans have fostered over the last 50 years. From the Carter Dept of “Socialist” Education to Clinton’s transference of Social Security dollars to the General Fund to make it appear that he did not raise taxes, to Clinton’s use of stadiums in NYC and LA full of aliens to endow the right of citizenship on masses of potential new voters, to Pelosi, Reed, Dodd, and the Clinton’s arm twisting of Freddy and Fannie to make unsecured loans, to GW’s refusal to shut down the boarders and to the main stream media becoming hard Liberal and or hard Conservative. Both parties have been focused on getting power or staying in power through the use of overt and covert force with little deference to the American people or American values. The take over of the Press by corporations has perpetuated and falsely validated the lies. Americans have no idea and largely no way of determining the Truth since both sides are lying for profit.
The system is broken. As Einstein said “The significant problems we face cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them.” In other words if you want to fix a problem the people who caused it must change the way they look at it.
American problems can only be fixed by Americans coming together to think, speak, listen and compromise. We need a true representative Continental Congress established, not by the political parties, but by the citizens, the stake holding American (those who own property, pay taxes and or have served in the military) people need to assemble and overhaul the American Government by accepting the good and changing the not so good into an America that reflects our common purpose. We need to meet to determine what “We the People” want for our country, our children and our future. Twittering, tweeting or emailing just don’t cut it. This will not be easy and will definitely be messy but as Teddy Roosevelt said to NY shipyard workers in 1918 “Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing”.
Supporting the Democrats, the Republicans or starting a Third party is like putting a bow tie on a pig and singing Yankee Doodle Dandy while watching fire works. If we don’t overhaul the soul of America then we will be Grasping at the mirage of change.
Thoss conservative dem. need to realize that their party is no long the party they have supported in the past. The left has taken over and it will be impossible to find a dem. who can remain true to any conservative ideology. While it is nice to include the rep. in our disdain the fact of the matter is they are the lesser of two problems. Does it ever occur to anyone or are there any statistice how many natural disasters and other disasters occurred duringf the Bush adm. that required the expenditure of large sums? It seems to me that there were quite a few. I believe that if the same amount of corruption was occurring during the Bush. adm. the dems would have blasted it all over the front pages and the media would never have let it go unnoticed. I have never seen the blatent disregard for the law that is coming out of this adm.
#1 The country IS ready for a 3rd party if it’s the “Tea Party Political Party”. I was SO disgusted by the McCain/Obama nominations that I changed my party to Independent. It’s time for a party for and by the People, the “Tea Party”.
#2 TERM LIMITS need to be in place ASAP. These career politicians are no good at doing what’s good for the People, only what’s good for them and their cronies.
#3 A politician needs to state in writing what they are for and against. What their moral compass is all about. Then they need to SIGN it. Any deviation from this signed affidavit would mean they were just lying to get elected and it would be grounds for their immediate dismissal.
#4 This country needs to get back to the constitution, our freedom is nearly gone and soon it will be too late.
#5 Those in office shouldn’t have special previlegdes like theY have now, they are supposed to be representing the people, they are not royalty above us. They now have special retirement, healthcare, cars, expense accounts and other perks, which makes me sick. Then they over regulate us to death. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH…
TIME FOR REAL CHANGE FOLKS…
I’m voting for the person who’s the PROVEN conservative, no matter who it might be. But despite all of our efforts through tea parties, town hall meetings, etc., it’s hard to convince people of the need for our country to vote for the RIGHT people when we are being marginalized by : 1 - Local and national press; 2 - Hollywood; 3 - Talk show hosts like Oprah, David Letterman, Jay Leno; 4 - Teachers; 5 - University professors, etc. How do we fight that?
If you’re happy with whats been going on in Washington, then by all means, vote Democratic. If not, the ONLY choice is to vote Republican. A third party vote is a wasted vote, ala Ross Perot
I do not want to be identified as a liberal, moderate or conservative. I am an American. I want a candidate who understands fiscal responsibility and the rule of law. I do believe a smaller government is best. The “do-nothing talker with questionable associates” talked himself into the White House, with the help of George Bush who put Americans off his radar, along with blacks, young people and die hard Democrats. Republicans followed Bush right off the cliff, handing over elections to some really bad politicians. I even came across a couple of Congressional Democrats who “got it”, what is right for our country. But by putting Americans first instead of the party, they didn’t last. I do not want to play the “if you vote for this one you will let that one win” game. I want to vote for who is right for me and hopefully for America. Period! Unfortunately, now I have to vote against incumbents to give them the message . . . again. The same message voters sent to Republicans in 2006 and 2008. Do you think they got that message and learned any lesson at all? I don’t believe they did. They might as well have gone out and stumped for Democrats because they certainly helped them get elected. Now the shoe is on the other foot, and Democrats are making Republicans look better again.
I am all for term limits, and making the money grubbers in Congress get on board the bus with the rest of us. Let them pay for their own health care, eliminate all the perks, such as voting themselves as nice raise and see how quick things will change. Also, eliminate all the lobbyists.
The 3rd party candidate does not fare well. - Remember New York AD23. Hoffman lost by 4% (that is the 4% who voted for DeDe )
We cannot be divided between all the various conservative groups. We have to unite and contribute to one 527 political fund. all American Patriots- please go to the site - http://FreedomForce.us. started by JB Williams with the Canada Free Press.
Deadline is Dec 15 to get fully funded so we can take over the GOP now to stop this slide into socialism instead of waiting until Nov 2010,
The liberal agenda is counting on us waiting until Nov 2010. will it make a difference? They are passing bills now that will ensure their continued positions. look at the response on 912 - they called us teabaggers. Keep your membership in the tea party - but make a onetime pledge to the 527 fund. Now let’s roll !go to http://Freedomforce.us
Lets do it in 2010.
Protect the 2nd amendment!!!
Third parties never win, and the Tea Party movement doesn’t have the needed infrastructure to win elections nation wide, thus we need to take control of the party that best represents us, and I believe the Republican Party is exactly that.
Yes, we’ve seen the GOP attack the politicians who best represent us, and we’ve seem them vote for the liberal programs currently keeping our economy down, but time and time again it is members in the Republican Party who hear our message, fight the good fight for us, and thus are America’s best hope for the future.
Many worry about our civil liberties, but how many remember that 0bama’s DHS has labeled US as the Real TERRORISTS in America? Bush made his mistakes, but he never attacked the American people like this!
We all know what the Democrat Party thinks of us Americans, and if you like being labeled a “Tea Bagger” …
I will again be signing up to work for the GOP in the elections next year, and they WILL hear me when I let them know that we will NOT support a liberal with an ‘R’ next to their name. You too can do the same. I hope you do.
God’s blessings on you all, and I hope you have a very Merry Christ mass. ;o)
