Today’s poll from Rasmussen is very telling in many ways. The poll, released this morning, suggest that the GOP base IS the liberty movement. And right now, that base has left the party.
In a three-way Generic Ballot test, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds Democrats attracting 36% of the vote. The Tea Party candidate picks up 23%, and Republicans finish third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided.
Among voters not affiliated with either major party, the Tea Party comes out on top. Thirty-three percent (33%) prefer the Tea Party candidate, and 30% are undecided. Twenty-five percent (25%) would vote for a Democrat, and just 12% prefer the GOP.
Among Republican voters, 39% say they’d vote for the GOP candidate, but 33% favor the Tea Party option.
This is good for our movement because it proves what we’ve been saying all along… the two major parties have been courting the wrong crowd. Especially the Republican Party.
I mean, recent polls make it clear that the dominating ideology in America is conservatism. This poll makes it clear that the dominating part of the Republican base is the liberty movement, not the moderates.
Many within the movement are not Republican and never have been, but I think it’s safe to say that the majority of the movement strongly opposes efforts by Democrats to destroy our country.
This was the major problem with John McCain, in my opinion. McCain is a moderate. And while many claimed it was for different reasons, I believe he lost because he had nothing significant to offer the liberty movement. Obama on the other hand promised his base a free ride in life.
It’s wild that Republicans can’t seem to grasp the simplicity of the situation. We’re not asking for freebies, we’re not asking for handouts… we’re instead just asking for our right to be free. We’re asking for representation that will protect our liberty, not trample it.
So, I think this poll makes a few things clear for us. First, Republicans can’t win without the movement. Second, the movement can’t win without the party. At least not in the short term.
If this polling data is correct, then we fail the second we split the vote that opposes Democrats.
This is only my opinion, of course. And I would certainly love to hear yours.
NOTE: In 2010 we need to remain focused. And our focus needs to be on removing big government thugs from office. Starting with those who support healthcare, cap and trade, bailouts and other dangerous legislation.
People in American need to vote their principals in all honesty. Compromise is how we got to the place we are at now. The parties cannot be trusted to stay true to conservative Constitutional principals. Lobbyist are too entrench in the two party system. For the country to go back to what the founding fathers intended we have to have a major overhaul to the system. We have to throught the Progressives out! The House to Representatives must stay in their districts. With email, online Conferencing, instant communications, their is no need for them to leave their constituents and the area they represent. The founding fathers wanted these representative to stay close to the people they represented. We were suppose to be able to physically talk to them. Repulicans are just as interested in a global government as the Democrates. We will never acheive a government taken back over by the grassroots people through the current party system. It is just part of the propaganda for politicians and party affiliates to say the only way we can win is by supporting one party or the other. This is a lie. We surround them, and out number them.
Though, I became an Indep. because the Repubs had betrayed our trust, I certainly am MORE afraid of what the Dem/Libs are doing and will do. Our best option is take charge of the Repubs. I think our country’s chance of survival relies on it.
Since all of the incumbents have done a horrible job, we need to vote out ALL of the incumbents - rep or dem.
Since the only thing of interest to all incumbents is reelection, we need to put the fear of God in them.
By voting out all of the incumbents, we will control all of the politicians by 2012
I think a third party is a bad idea. Give the Tea Party more time to grow. More and more people are getting angry over the status quo.
Do any of you remember Ross Perot and the Reform Party? It made a statement, but wasn’t strong enough to overthrow the other parties. All voter’s did was throw away their vote.
If we try that now the Republicans and a 3rd party could be divided. Not enough votes would go to a non-Democrat. That could give the Democrats the majority of the votes.
What we need to do is clean out gov’t of known corrupt politicians; meaning most of them. We need to sweep the vote in 2010 and 2012.
We also need to remove the RINO’s from the Republican party.
When I said we need to learn the Constitution and teach it, I mean LEARN it inside out, study it, know it. We’ve read it and know what it says, but we should study the founders` and framers’ explanations of it and stand as millions of Constitutional experts and teach others why we’ve been the world’s greatest success.
Also, We should work to get the Republican Primary moved to one day.
I would like to add that it would be BEST for this country if we could have 2/3rds of the States call a Constitutional Convention. This doesn’t mean that we all must attend, in fact, a “delegation” from each state would be my recommendation for this move.
It has NEVER been done but was made constitutional for the very reason we must do it; tyranny. If we aren’t under tyranny, I don’t know what to call it.
If we did this, we could REPEAL the 17th Amendment. This would negate Congress altogether. I envision doing that and reverting back to what we did before teh 17th; sending ONE REPRESENTATIVE from each State House to represent us in Washington, D.C. Very manageable group.
We TAKE BACK WASHINGTON, D.C. We would basically be AMENDING the U.S. Constitution ourselves; and this must pass by 3/4’s vote of the states. But, the Founders of this great nation were brilliant and foresaw that power and money corrupts.
I don’t think there will be an opportunity for a vote at all in 2012 unless We the People take action.
I don’t wish to see any violence, but the Dems would try to stage some. We are bigger and smarter than that.
Initially, We need to apply the brakes to the rapidly building oppression. I think that we need to fiercely support the defeat of the oppressive traitors who are currently selling us and the country out and taking us over. We should support any strong momentum in that direction as long as it’s not a Scazzafava NY23 type of traitor candidate. Then, we need to keep doing what we’re doing. Protest the existance of these oppressive policies until they are deconstructed and liberty is restored. We’ll need to keep growing and set our sights on restoring patriotism, integrety and accountability to specific targets (such as the department of education, the EPA, the IRS - restrictions on churches, the media etc). We need to expand common awareness of American communism and its tools of deceit. We need to put spotlights on all of the trouble areas and corruption pools and we need to lift up the strongest patriots with vocal and monetary support and whatever else we can do to be their partners in restoring our heavily dented country to its intended design. We also need to learn and teach the constitution and the founder’s declared intentions and reasons for them to others. Teach the core principles and how to spot false patriots. I’m thinking about that quote (Winston Churchill?) “a lie gets half way around the world before the truth gets its pants on”. We know the truth. Let’s each deliver it daily.
We need to move incrementally, election by election and put bulldozer support behind the people who strongly endorse individual liberty, the Bill of Rights and the short leash that the Constitution puts on our government.
I’d suggest that every TEA Party Patriot starts putting aside whatever amount of “change” they can each week to donate to whatever true patriot candidates rise and need it at each election. If the money pours in to the campains of candidates with the TEA Party/founders principles, the Republican Party will get the message. It might even have a positive effect on the Democrats! Signs say alot, but money makes the message louder.
I would like to comment on the multiplicity of responses which indicated support of candidates based on their statements of refusing to support big government. ANY PARTY or Most CANDIDATES will say whatever they want you to hear to be elected. Aren’t we all aware of this by now? Don’t fall for this same ‘ol same ‘ol. Actions, not words are what we need to rely on to choose candidates. Make them live up to their words before we vote for them. At whatever level, everyone has a record of some sort. It’s incumbent on us as a movement to discover those actions and educate the electorate.
Don’t forget that elections alone will not win the next election. If we cannot mobilize enough people to watch ACORN and the union movements like a hawk, before, during and after election day, we will likely still lose. How else can you explain why the powers in office seem not to care about what their actions do to their future in power?
Infiltrate them to their depths and do exposes on them! Work the polls, involve yourself in the vote counting process!
At some point a protest movement must become a political movement or it will amount to nothing. The left has taken over the Democrat Party and the Republican Party is ripe for a takeover. We should not miss this opportunity. It doesn’t matter what the Republicans have done in the past if the party becomes the party of Tea Party Patriots!
I’m for a new litmus test. If an incumbent can not be proven as a conservative, vote him or her out.
I think the GOP, the Inds, and Cons need to join forces. There needs to be a definitive pact drawn up to get us back to our core values so we can take back our country in 2010/2012. Rush L. or Sarah Palin would be excellent motivators to accomplish this goal. A third party would be a shoe-in for the Dems and they would love this idea. Don’t forget that Perot, with his 19%, put Clinton in the WH. And Hoffman (23rd District in NY) lost because the rep. had over 5,000 votes. I think a third party is just too much of a gamble and the stakes are way too high. We need to stand united and take back our country before it’s too late! ~~ Bless you!
Why was Marsha Blackburn allowed to speak? She is part of the problem.
Marsha Blackburn is my Congressman.

The Tea Party movement has literally risen like a phoenix this year because people are so fed up with both sides snarfing at the public trough. We should ride this wave as far as we can.
Before the current Republican Party existed, we had the Whigs. Where are they now? This is exactly where we are today. It’s time for the Tea Party to become the new Republican Party — not a third party.
The Republicans have betrayed us one too many times so now we can reject the moderates like Graham and the idiots like Newt who wouldn’t support a candidate that didn’t have a “republican” label.
These are the same politicians who promised term limits in 1994 only if the limits didn’t apply to their terms. No Thanks!
Remember the words “career” and “politican” should never be used together. If there is no one else, I’ll have to support Republicans, BUT, NOW THERE IS SOMEONE ELSE, US!
The Left is so busy marginalizing the Movement. I imagine the Left will cheer on the Movement as we rush toward a new party and charge right off the cliff, insuring a second term in the White House for this nit wit we’ve got today. Talk of a Third Party are shortsighted at best.
Doesn’t anybody remember how Perot gift wrapped the Oval Office for Bill Clinton? And this ultimately lead to a second term for Slick Willy.
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE, PEOPLE!!!
The best thing for us to do is to take over the GOP. The kook fringe left owns the DNC. Let ‘em have it, I say. The GOP is the closest thing we’ve got to a conservative party. They’ve got the infrastructure already in place. I say we take them over and push only conservative candidates in sate and local elections. The rest will follow.
We’ve got their attention. The GOP hopes we don’t put their candidates out on the asses. The Dems a praying things simmer down and we get distracted and just go away.
I think it would be a big mistake to form a Third Party. Seal the 2010 election for Uh-bama, it would.
BC in CA
The third party is not viable simply because the requirements for ballot access are onerous and differ greatly from state to state. We need to correct this! Yes, it will take a concentrated effort in each state and yes it will be difficult, but I think if we are ever going to get out of the mess we’re in, it has to be done. I would like to see the tea party movement spearhead this.
As far as voting goes, remember that both parties hand pick their candidates, the ones they promote and they do everything in their power to derail the candidiacies of candidates within their own party that will not be their “yes” men and women. Keep this in mind when choosing your candidates. Do you want more of the same or someone who will not bow to the party heads?
Never forget…. It’s not about party it’s about Country. We need labels to “define” things, movements but it’s substance that counts. What I see happening right now is a revolution. A wholesale takeover by the left of our way of life. One has to wonder how much more these vermin are going to be able to pass and what will be left of this Republic (if we can keep it aka Benjamin Franklin). The Tea Party Movement is taking baby steps. We are getting our act together, coalescing, uniting. As a whole, I believe that most of us are “conservatives” period. No Democrat, no Republican, just people with conservative values. When it comes to voting if there is a worthy candidate out there who puts country first, and stands up to what is happening, then vote for him/her. If it is a Republican with these values, then vote. If it is a Democrat….this is a very sticky area as in my mind there is not one Democrat left who has the right to his/her pension for what they are doing to this country. Can we all spell TREASON? I am trying to fathom what the Founders were thinking, what they were going through, when they had reached the point that they had “had enough”. This 111th Congress of tyrants need be held accountable for the destruction they are wreaking on this country. We need a REVOLUTION and hopefully it will be at the polls. But there are still many, many people who will vote for someone strickly because they are a this or a that. This is because we are no longer an “informed electorate” after seeing the percentages of who voted for Obama because of his color, etc. We are a nation in receivorship. If you want to know who I would have voted for in the NY 23 election it would have been Doug Hoffman (I believe that was his name). Just a common, ordinary, everyday man, just plain FED UP at what he was seeing happening to his country. He wasn’t a lawyer, wealthy or any of that other c**p. These are the kind of people we need to vote for. I hope this helps.
And one other thing, we are dealing with CUTTHROATS. Do you think for one moment that they are not going to try something to stymie, stop, halt, gag or foil the Tea Party Movement? We need to be very vigilant and think like the Founders. In fact, that’s what the Tea Party Movement is all about…a “re-founding (as Mr. Beck so aptly has stated) of this nation. This time WE CANNOT LET HER DOWN. Remember the lady in the harbor, remember all those who have served and are still serving to keep us free. Our children, our families, our free enterprise system. They are taking it all down and we stand by while they do it. I can only hope that an Almighty G-d will intervene and spare us the repercussions of what I see coming down the pike if they keep going. We used to fight the enemy overseas. Not anymore. The enemy is alive and well in Washington, D.C. Keep our heads and be strong.
I have been saying all along that we
do NOT need to split into 3 parties,
but rather strengthen the Republican
Party with strong conservative candidates.
I don’t know how many of you remember this, but the only reason Bill Clinton was elected, not once, but twice, was because of Ross Perot who ran as an independent.
The Democrat vote was not split, but the
Republican vote was and it handed Clinton
the White House twice. Clinton won the first time with only 43% of the vote.
Bush, Sr., had 39.4% and Ross Perot got
18.6%. Bush would have easily won had it not been for Perot. The second time around, Clinton won by 49.2%, while Bob Dole received 40.7% and Perot got 8.4%. Once again, had Perot not been in the mix, it would have been very close. Clinton may have still won, but by the slimmest of margins.
Also, there is the case of New York 23rd
this past November. Had the Republicans picked Doug Hoffman from the beginning, he would have easily won the race. Even though the early polls showed Hoffman lost by 5,000 votes, they are now re-counting the votes. Hoffman has gained some 2000 more votes and the absentee ballots still have to be counted. He could still conceivably win,
but the point it that had he been the Republican candidate from the get-go, he would have easily defeated Owens.
I have written key Tea Party leaders and asked them to please focus on helping conservative Republicans get in the races, and to NOT go the third party route. If we do, I am afraid it will come back to bite us. Some Democrats on the Hill are already saying that they will win in 2010 because the Republican Party and the 3rd party will split the Republican vote and I’m afraid that just might happen. I implore whoever is reading this and whoever will help make these decisions to not move toward a third party, but rather help strengthen the Republican party with strong conservative candidates. If we do that,
we will win!!
I will vote against any GOP/DEM incumbent. Obama Dems/Progressives are dismantling America. If Independent candidate would insure Dem incumbent win, I would vote GOP. I will vote against a RINO for a new DEM candidate who is not pro-obama.
If we proceed, we must not allow the Democrats to gain power. We can ill afford another Ross Perot voting cycle. We must take the fight locally and build our base for the upcoming 2012 fight. Republicans should be put on notice in 2010; voting all incumbents out that can not adhere to the principles set down in the Constitution.
I agree with Spartican - I want a fiscal conservative - I don’t want to make abortion, gay marriage and stem cell research the most important issues. I felt like the Tea Party movement started out this way, but now I feel it is trying to push very conservative social values to the front of the platform. I am sure I will be called names on this blog for my “moderate ” views, but I think the religious right has cut off their nose to spite their face. Maybe McCain was not the greatest candidate, but if he was President, Nancy Pelosi would be not pushing through her agenda with no opposition. People that refused to vote for McCain might have just as well voted for Obama, because they helped get him elected. I think we have to be realistic and accept that most of the country is center right - not far right or far left.
Betty 0224 said it far better than I can - I agree wholeheartedly with her post.
Dear Fellow Citizens,
A third party (however enticing the thought might be) will do NOTHING but weaken our chances of beating the democrats and tear us further apart. A third part would play directly into their hands. “Together we stand (and make the necessary changes within the GOP) Divided we FALL”…and fall we will…..Please consider…..YES we are gaining numbers and are becoming stronger, YES we all want to change the GOP, but it must be done in an organized manner. This fight we are about to embark upon is bigger, I fear, than we realize. It has been many years in the making and its tentacles reach deep and wide. WE MUST STAY TOGETHER to conquer this…or else I fear our best efforts will be lost. We need to stand together under the GOP to make a difference.
The Tea Party Movement has been such a vital service in ” taking back America ” I really want to see it remain as an impetus to action. Every community in every State in America, needs to become informed about the insidious plans underway to impose a totalitarian government in America. Americans need to understand the political parties / representatives in State and National Government are neither invincible, all powerful or untouchable. The Tea Party Movement has provided a long overdue accounting of the American Constitution. They all can be recalled, impeached, and some tried for treason - in the deliberate destruction they have planned for America. With every unconstitutional bill they try to sneak through Congress, they need to be held accountable and brought to justice. The Income Tax Amendment should be repealed; Hate speech and Gun regulations should be nullified. Each is an attempted end-run around the Constitution. But to get repeals and nullifications, every community must be stirred to action and confronted with TRUTH !!! Congress must not be allowed to blatantly lie and bribe with entitlements that taxpayers will be forced to pay for. Unions and the Department of Education should be done away with. Each community must be made responsible for its own citizens’ education. Every school should begin its day with the ‘ Pledge of Allegience and every yard should display the American flag. Anyone objecting, should have their passport voided and get a one-way ticket back to where ever he/she came from. Morality should be brought back. No civilization can survive with the level of depravity currently prevalent in America. Long live Tea Party Patriots!
The dems are in the process of burying us. Don’t tell me you cannot see it. They are doing it very swiftly. Impeach and repeal that should be your motto. I think it is already to late. Nit wit republican that will cross over and vote for the Obama Health Care bill makes me sick inside. She will give him the 60th vote he needs. The great senator from maine. God help the children down the road!!
We’re going to have to be smart about this! The “Lamestream Media” is going to go after the Tea Party Movement no matter what we do, and that’s OK!
What we need to do is identify Conservative Candidates for the Local, State and Federal offices that are up for Election. Somehow, we’ll have to “vette” these people to make sure that they believe and will work for Conservative principles if they are elected! No more “Rinos”!
For those who think that starting up a Third Party is the answer, ask yourselves this question: When was the last time a Third Party Candidate won a National Election? Never! All a Third Party Candidate does is split the vote of either the Republicans or Democrats (usually the one not in power). So in my humble opinion, please don’t waste your time with Third Party Candidates! Stay with the Republican Party and let’s get Conservative Candidates to run against every Democrat!
There will not be a 2010. This group has destroyed more in 11 months than we could repair in ten years. What do you think is going to happen in the next year, cookies and milk?????????????
As much as I dislike throwing in a 3rd party because it might split the Republicans chances, I feel the need to go outside of it too. I just can’t seem to trust either party because they say so much crap and don’t mean it. I think if we get a true candidate out there that stands up for the constitution and all, I think both parties would lose memberships because of all the stupid crap already going on in Washington.
As to the story about Ross Perot: I thought his chances were pretty good had he not quit the race and gotten back in. If he just kept plugging away, people might have taken a chance. They sure did with Obama, and now look where we are.
Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t totally happy with Bush and his spending either. But until somebody comes in and actually means what they say and stand up for whats right, we will keep going down this empty road.
I agree with most of you. I think all the tea party associations need to get together and form a national ‘I Want My Rights Back’ where someone on each board is on this national TeaGOP advisory Board so you get an idea how many grass roots people are actually out there. Make no mistake-there are lots of sleeping Democrats and Republicans who are afraid their emails will be read and are worried their jobs may be in jeopardy. Figure out a way to protect their privacy and lets get people registered. Volunteer in your precincts to register voters. Talk to 3 different people a say about keeping our freedoms. Let’s get a list of blogs for them to look at if they don’t believe us. Most people I have found are sick of hearing all this and are doing the ostrich thing-to our peril.
Trevor on 12/7 at 4:38 . . . AWESOME! Thank you for putting those thoughts exceedingly well. I could not agree with you more.
Well, this is a tuff vote. My gut reaction was “Third Party All the Way!” But after further consideration I too realize the failure of most third parties. However I believe that the Tea Party has got a lot more going for it than others. I think we need to focus on what can make the greatest difference NOW. That means placing activism and unity first. Taking over the GOP is probably the best short term move for fast action.
However, we must be ready a willing to render political justice swiftly where it is due and use the processes we have. We don’t have time to wait for terms to be served!
We need to use the primaries to nominate CONSERVATIVES only. We can make sure, on a local basis, that someone running for an office is a conservative. We cannot fall for a “blue dog” democrat because that will keep the “D” after his name and Pelosi in power. We elected a “blue dog” and that has led to the democrats in a position of power. We must get the dems out of control of the House and Senate!!
Jerry Proud
I tuned in to a talk show yesterday just in time to hear John Cornyn make a comment “we are not a dictatorship.” I was stunned. If this Health Care issue is not like dictatorship, I don’t know what is.
When Ross Perot ran as a third party candidate all he did was split the vote. We should watch and keep a record of how each member of the total congress votes on: Health Care, Cap and Trade, and all the issues that have had us concerned. When the next elections come up for both houses, I say we vote for the candidate that has been most conservative and in line with our views regardless of Party affiliation. If they are Republican and Conservative, vote for them; if they are Republican and liberal (Arlen Spector, Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe) Vote and work hard to get rid of them. No more RHINOS. But do not run as a third party, it will destroy all you have accomplished.
I don’t think we can wait till 2010. With the EPA flexing its muscle today, which will be used to manipulate Cap and Trade and with Health Care about to happen, we are in a world of trouble. It’s about to become a world you read about in Science Fiction Novels.
Working with what we can control, take back the GOP. It seems the only way. NO RINO’s. United We Stand, Divided we perish.
The GOP is the only of the two parties that can be turned into a liberty party. Third parties are sure losers, we do not want to go there until we have completely exhausted all hope of saving the GOP. We need to work on getting conservative candidates to win the primary elections
I think a third party is too dangerous. We need to research the candidates of the Democrat and Republican parties and determine who will be most likely to uphold the Constitution and the founding principles of our country. Those are the people for whom we should vote regardless of party affiliation. Maybe we could have a Tea Party volunteer group to investigate the candidates and provide a report containing both pro and con information for evaluation. Thanks
Susan says Our best shot is to get involved in the primaries and promote conservative candidates in the GOP.
I basicly aggree but it should be both party’s, GOP and DEMS. Party politics is bad for the Country.
Dear Friends for Freedom & Liberty, The Poll Questions are too vague and we should not TAKE OVER…rather we should JOIN WITH any other Voter from any Party or Indendence. We need to Assimilate, not Segregate. If we need true numbers of Voters, let’s recruit the undecided(i.e.-uninformed) and build a Winner for Y2010 and Y2012. Dumb Voters should be identified and discouraged from voting by placing THEM in a Third Party.Sure enough they will fall for whatever they are promised. Dumb and Dumber, eh?
Let’s just ’sing our song’ and rise to NUMBER 1 !
The voting options are confusing. To say the tea party should take over the Dems or GOP, can be taken 2 ways. I will say, that the Dems need to be taken out. Although both Dems and Gop have made mistakes, this Democratic administration is destroying the country big time. Tea Party needs to join forces with the GOP.
I am responding not to cause any problems, but to express an opinion. I believe that the time has come to the point that we consider exactly what it is that we want and how we should proceed. I cannot help but feel that there are many good Republicans and yet we have too many that are trying to sit astride the fence. What is required is a real strong effort to go out and support those candidates who voice the same concerns that we have3 and can basically prove they are with us. The Republican Party cannot stand along with a third party but it can clean up it’s act.
Replacing big-gov Republicans seemed like an obvious choice, to me, and that’s how I voted, BUT, it sure would be a hoot to see some congressional district elect a hard-core Constitution-and-common-sense supporter with a ‘D’ behind their name.
I am a registered Independent. I was so disgusted with both Obama and McCain and their respective parties that I voted for neither. I have been accused of throwing away my vote. I do not believe I did. I believe both parties are corrupt. I think folks should vote their consciences. HOWEVER, given the dire straits in which America now finds herself, I believe Tea Party activists should take over the GOP, get rid of the Rhinos and elect good, solid fiscal conservatives who believe in the Constitution. Third Party candidates cannot win elections at this juncture, I believe. We need to force the GOP back to their roots so they do the right things.
If everybody in this ‘conversation’ would give http://www.FreedomForce.us a look-see and would read J.B. Williams’ article, “Time for the Tea Party to Become Tangible” at http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/15968, perhaps we could start making progress.
Happiness & Health
It is my opinion that the movement has been successful because the focus is on liberty and fiscal responsibility and not on social issues. Going forward, I believe that it would help the movement to stress these principles to Republicans and to emphasize the disinterest in taking a position on social issues to Democrats. I, for one, don’t care whether gays marry, someone smokes marijuana, or women get abortions on demand - just don’t make me pay for any of it.
i think we only consider third party movements in democrat strongholds where we think the democrats are too hard to bring down…it might surprise us
The republican party already has structure and money! Why would we try to replicate all that when we have a ready forum to use?
To me that would not only be a waste of time but would also preclude our “throwing the bums out” in 2010. We don’t need to do everything at once, let’s get some repubs. in congress and then go from there. The RNC is already feeling our heat and I’m seeing evidence of conservative, small government, ideas being floated out there. That’s where we can be the most effective. Put pressure on the RNC message and platform.
[...] This is only my opinion, of course. And I would certainly love to hear yours. Take the National Tax Day Tea Party poll. [...]
No democrats or republicans that side with them.
Okay, first, I too do not wish to offend anyone here, I only mean to express my opinion.
I absolutely share the fustration felt by many, fed up with both parties, but we have to be VERY carful here, b/c the stakes are steep, and we stand to loose everything.
The 2010 elections may be our last chance to make a difference with our vote. It is no coincidence that the Obama administration has already said it was going to begin to address the illegal immigration issue early next year. If they manage to pull amnesty off, it wont matter much who we vote for. You will see millions of illegals given new citizen status, flooding the ballot box in 2012. This combined with the rampant voter fraud committed by Acorn and groups like them, will ensure that those “thugs” that have hijacked this country will be in power for a VERY LONG TIME.
While it is passion that stirs us to action, we must use our heads and channel that passion into a winning strategy. It is true that many Republicans have left a bad taste in our mouths, but right now, partnering with the GOP is our best chance to HALT the momentum of this administration. As I speak, the progressive democratic agenda is being steamrolled through congress with little if any opposition. Our priority MUST be to restore the balance of power in the house and senate. This is paramount. Sending a message to congress by endorsing an independent will mean nothing if they dont win. We need conservative candidates….but candidates who in the end CAN WIN.
By splitting with the GOP, we divide the vote, and at the end of the day, wind up with two weaker parties, that each on its own is more likely to be defeated. I believe this route might win us a few battles, but will lose us the war. And make no mistake, this is a war.
PLEASE….PLEASE…THINK VERY CAREFULLY…..Strategy, strategy, strategy.
Churches have used two approaches to grow their members: 1)Get them in the door and then convince them of your views or 2)Get your message out to lots of people and some will find it appealing and will join you. BOTH WORK but for different reasons - because different people are motivated differently. What is common is a susceptability to the “message”. So we need to appeal to GOP(#1 folks)and continue to appeal to the sensabilities of the non-GOPer (#2 folks) that are disaffected by the current system/ situation. Evolution is be what it will be…if it becomes a new party, so be it!
Both parties are corrupted by special interest and are making a mess of freedoms and perverted the law. The RINO’s need to be driven from the right and the libs from the left, both are useless and have the same goals in mind to sieze power and control, they have no intention of serving the voters and taxpayers in a capacity that will benefit the country. They serve only their agenda.
Time for term limits and yearly public audits for elected officials, the trust needs to be restored.
We Fitzpatricks must stick together. I agree with Mike that we must do whatever gives us the best opportunity to defeat the Democrats and to kill their monopoly power in DC.
The GOP is much closer to our beliefs than that other group, but if a better route becomes evident, take it (to quite Yogi, “If you come to a fork in the road, take it.”
