Today’s poll from Rasmussen is very telling in many ways. The poll, released this morning, suggest that the GOP base IS the liberty movement. And right now, that base has left the party.
In a three-way Generic Ballot test, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds Democrats attracting 36% of the vote. The Tea Party candidate picks up 23%, and Republicans finish third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided.
Among voters not affiliated with either major party, the Tea Party comes out on top. Thirty-three percent (33%) prefer the Tea Party candidate, and 30% are undecided. Twenty-five percent (25%) would vote for a Democrat, and just 12% prefer the GOP.
Among Republican voters, 39% say they’d vote for the GOP candidate, but 33% favor the Tea Party option.
This is good for our movement because it proves what we’ve been saying all along… the two major parties have been courting the wrong crowd. Especially the Republican Party.
I mean, recent polls make it clear that the dominating ideology in America is conservatism. This poll makes it clear that the dominating part of the Republican base is the liberty movement, not the moderates.
Many within the movement are not Republican and never have been, but I think it’s safe to say that the majority of the movement strongly opposes efforts by Democrats to destroy our country.
This was the major problem with John McCain, in my opinion. McCain is a moderate. And while many claimed it was for different reasons, I believe he lost because he had nothing significant to offer the liberty movement. Obama on the other hand promised his base a free ride in life.
It’s wild that Republicans can’t seem to grasp the simplicity of the situation. We’re not asking for freebies, we’re not asking for handouts… we’re instead just asking for our right to be free. We’re asking for representation that will protect our liberty, not trample it.
So, I think this poll makes a few things clear for us. First, Republicans can’t win without the movement. Second, the movement can’t win without the party. At least not in the short term.
If this polling data is correct, then we fail the second we split the vote that opposes Democrats.
This is only my opinion, of course. And I would certainly love to hear yours.
NOTE: In 2010 we need to remain focused. And our focus needs to be on removing big government thugs from office. Starting with those who support healthcare, cap and trade, bailouts and other dangerous legislation.
We must defeat the current democrat leadership. The purist approach would be to dump the republican party because they have failed to uphold conservative principles. However it is not realistic to expect to win with a third party now, failure is not an option. The alternative is to force the GOP to uphold conservative principles. There is enough fear amongst them at this point to make them listen. In some cases where the republican will never get principles (like in recent New York state election) there should be exceptions. I agree with Dennis above. We should press for the best candidates and use the resourses of the GOP to DEFEAT THE DEMS AND TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY!
I agree with the following posted by reader…..Just what are the ideals of the Tea Party? Are they printed anywhere - is there a platform? I am not being sarcastic - I just think the ideals have changed since last April and I want to know what the Tea Party supports. Is it ultra-conservative socially - is that the main platform, or is this more about smaller government, less taxes and abiding by the constitution? I would seriously like to hear some comments because I am confused by all the different emails I get from “Tea-Party” people - I just want to know exactly what interest the Tea Party represents.
We need to start primming patriots to run and find viable candidates with conservative and constitutional values. Then put all our efforts in getting them elected. These candidates do not have to be from the 2 party powers. If we can successfully elect a few 3rd party candidates it will also convince the 2 other parties we have clout and we will use it. So get on board or receive your pinkslip.
We need to be practical. This nation cannot withstand much more of the extreme agenda of the current ruling class. We need to act swiftly, clearly and decisively to save the American dream. It is easier to takeover one of the existing parties than to create a third party. It is our ideas that matter “A rose by any other name is still a rose”.
We are in a war against the arrogance and indifference of our politicians who seek to fundamentally change our nation from individual freedoms to tyranny. We need to function as a general that seeks to coordinate the activities of all who are interested in preserving the principles of individualism, private property and the free market, the rule of law, and social toleration. Much as the 13 colonies united to defeat the arrogance and indifference of the British Empire we need to unite to refound our nation.
We need to be actively involved in:
1) Finding, selecting and endorsing candidates.
2) Meeting with all other like minded organizations and formulating war plans.
3) Educating our fellow citizens.
4) Get out the vote.
5) Create an ad campaign.
6) Etc.
First stop the bleeding (defeat all the arrogant politicians who are indifferent to the will of the people and the well being of our nation).
The last major new party created is the Republican Party. The issue that sank the Whigs and made the Republicans viable was slavery.
Do we have such an overwhelming issue today that can defeat either of the two major parties? No, we don’t have a single dominant issue that will drive a third party to prominence, let alone success.
For practicality’s sake, we should channel our strength into reforming the GOP. Having said that, there are some unique situations in various districts in which an independent candidate may be the best option in order to shake up the local GOP and enabling such reform.
The best advice I have heard lately is for all of us to recognize that this is not a “one-time” opportunity. Even if we succeed beyond our wildest dreams, we must remain vigilant into the future, or we will see our Freedoms attacked and eroded once again. As Reagan observed, we are only one generation away from losing our Freedom. Each generation has to carry on its own fight to preserve our God given rights. (Yes, I said God-given. The looney religious zealots are the ones who have the strongest philosophical foundation for Freedom. Atheism has only brought the world misery! But I digress)
The critical message for true success is for us to demonstrate that we are in this for the long-haul, not just a quick burst of energy that fizzles out. That has been the record of most such populist movements.
Reagan, Goldwater, and W.F.Buckley started in the 1950’s and didn’t see real success until the 1980’s and 1990’s. Are we ready to stick this out, even if it takes us 10 or 20 years?
we need to be a third party away from the gop.. people will only think we are right wing nuts with the gop. we need to tell people what the tea party is about. we need to be a single party and get rid of the gop and democrats they are too infected!!
After reading the results of Rasmussen poll, and most would still vote Dummycrat
over Repubs.,must not understand,Dummycrats are the ones shoving healthcare and cap&tax up thier A**’s,rather than vote Conservative or Repub. The mineset of voters has become the biggest problem, if thier union or any type of blue coller worker then they have to vote Dummycrat (I’m a union member and have never voted Dummy).Third parties will never work, you have to change the Repub party from within like Ragan did and not let the national leadership tell us what we want….
I am a Conservative Republican. I have made the mistake of voting for candidates simply becase they have an “R” after their name - it was clear to me that the Republican was always the best option. It is obvious the GOP has lost its way and I believe they do realize that, which is why they are proposing a Reagan Republican litmus test - it is at least a step in the right direction, albeit maybe not a complete answer to the problem. You certainly do not see this kind of standard being proposed in the other party. I would shudder to think what kind of test that would be. The Tea Party can help by throwing its support behind the most conservative candidate, still being mindful of the political situation in a particular region and making sure their choice has some chance in hell of winning. Let’s give the GOP a chance. Otherwise, I would have to agree with those who understand socialism and the marxist rules of engagement - they intend to split us, and a third party would do exactly that. Do not be stupid and underestimate these people - they have come too far and have a great deal of time and money invested in this fight.
We need to focus on candidates that will:
1. Support reducing the size of government.
2. Support a strong military.
3.Support an international policy that is pro AMERICAN. (If you are not our friend you must be our enemy)
4.Support legislation to keep our economy free of government interference. (No cap in trade) (No socialized medicine)
5. Support Tort Reform.
There are other issues to debate but lets start with these.
Lets require all candidates to speak to these issues, so we can hold their feet to the fire.
It’s time “WE THE PEOPLE ” have a voice in what OUR government is doing and get rid of any candidates that will not abide by “WE THE PEOPLES” wishes.
MAYBE THEY WILL LISTEN FOR A CHANGE. (haha)
Just for credentials, I am an American born in Miami, FL of Cuban parents. My family lived and witnessed how socialism destroyed their country by dividing the people. Socialism is like a malicious cancer that slowly rots away anything it touches. By the time most people wake up to the fact that they are infected it may be too late. Do NOT let them divide us, we must always stay united at all costs. Once this decision is made we must UNITE behind the decision!!
I live in Glenview, IL. My Rep. is Mark Kirk (R). He clearly stabbed us in the back on the Cap and Trade bill and is running in 2010 for Obama’s old Senate seat (now held by our appointed highest bidder: Roland Burris). The local argument is that Kirk has name recognition and could be elected, in spite of his duplicity in the past. This is Chicago politics and I would hate to see Kirk be our Senator. However, I would hate it more to have another crooked Democrat buy the seat (sure wish we had Obama’s phone calls on tape before he got the seat the way we do Burris’ with Blagojevich). I don’t have a good answer, other than to regularly show up on Kirk’s office steps and try to keep him honest. I am remembering the country western song “You knew darn well I was a snake before you took me in”.
History has shown us that the “split the vote” and lose it all theory is valid. Look at any socialist country’s history and you will find that it fell to socialism when the socialists managed to create discord among the only political party that stood a chance of defeating them. Cuba and Venesuela are typical examples. Right now the polls show we will lose to socialism if we create a third party. maybe this will change in the future, but we will have no future if we don’t choose correctly now. Now we should make the decision to align with a political party on a local level, whether it be Republican or Independent, in order to give anyone that represents our movement’s ideals of less government, etc. a chance to win in this life changing election in 2010.
We should vote for the person, not the party. What we are looking for is a country that meets conservative principals and that could be in either party. Enough of the divisive left right of parties…lets vote for someone with principals…no matter what party. We should identify these principals and then ask polititions to commit to them and then support them.
Only the GOP comes close to being predominately conservative. The Democrats are marching mightily to a Marxist drum and a third party would allow theem to continue their march.
We have a real chance in 2010 to remove Harry Reid from the Senate and to remove Nancy Pelosi from her position as Speaker of the House. Accomplishing those objectives alone would empower the TEA Party movement and the Conservative cause but if those objectives were accomplished, the TEA Party must not rest on its laurels.
STICK TO CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES! In my opinion both parties are corrupt and find ways to stifle or even flatten conservative dissent. Don’t believe me? Look at how quickly the GOP threw Sarah Palin under the bus.
Educate people on the PRINCIPLES (adhering to the constitution, smaller government, lower taxes, border security, etc) and watch people leave the two parties and rally to our cause.
We all share a common thought, a common goal and a obvious awareness; the political system has failed WE THE PEOPLE.
The common politician shares a common profession, they are lawyers.
The Republicans and the Democrats are both dirty and guilty, they are for the most part lawyers.
History proves a third party can not win the Presidency , I wish it could.
If we desire to take back America from the tyrannical politicians that now control government, we will need to use the infrastructure that is in place due to the time restraints we face.
The GOP is the more plausible of the two parties. Rather than blindly support the GOP, we as a movement must penetrate Republican Party and redefine it with Tea Party Activists and candidates.
The TEA Party is NOT a third Party. It’s the TEA Party. We are independent and issue driven. We speak with one voice. We vote as a block. We need to correct the 2 party system by driving the ‘Issue’ bus. Make 2 party candidates vote like we want or they are out. Reps will vote like we want if we have clout. Our clout is in being the ’special interest’ that cannot be ignored. Get big, then get bigger, both Dems and Repubs have to come to our position. We will falter as a third party.
I am socially liberal and politically conservative. I don’t want the government (and schools)to tell me or my kids what’s morally correct. I do want our government to live within its means as they expect us to do.
People are tired of both parties. There are too many crooks on both sides, too many career politicians. We need a fresh start in this country. We need candidates that believe in limited government and that are willing to support passage of a term-limits amendment. Let term limits be the litmus test. A third choice will educate the public, show that we do still have choices. How many times have we had to vote for the lesser of two evils in the past 30 years? It is time for a third party.
(This may be a little lengthy but please read)
Both parties are destroying this country. One is just more abrupt than the other. Bureaucracies, by their very nature, increase in size exponentially without a leader who makes tough choices to reduce it. Government officials and staff create positions that are for “life.” They have the best benefits and it’s hard to get fired. Even though their functions may not be required and they may not be qualified for the position, they do whatever is necessary to keep their jobs. The fed is the largest employer in the world. (if you include government contracts). Look at your local institutions. The waste is incredible.
We need to focus on showing Democrats and Republicans who vote without any idea of what is going on in the world, our country and our government, the advantage of less government. We need to show how bigger taxes hurt the poor as well. Government hand outs are nothing but “let them eat cake. “Rich people care far less than a poor person about what a gallon of milk, a pack of cigarettes or a 4 pack of Busch beer costs. “Education will solve a lot of the 33% problem. Education is the key. We just need to specifically identify the above described demographic to focus on. Has the plight of the working class gotten any better through government hand outs?
Even if our 3rd party loses this one (which I doubt it will), we need to start somewhere. Obama won on blind change for the sake of change. If we have a viable and sustainable platform, we will win. We have to be specific as to where we will reduce the size of government and identify genuine spending cuts. Not just a paper shuffle.
We need to become like the Progressives of the last century. They had some ideas they wanted in government and campaigned on those issues. The Democratic Party coopted the progressive issues as their own and the progressives migrated to the Democratic party. We need to become the voice of liberty and campaign on issues we stand on. Endorse only candidates that agree with us on the issues. Being consistent with our values, which are closer to Republican than Democratic values, will enable us to become the majority in the Republican Party, maybe even get some of our own in Republican leadership roles. As they are now, there is “not a nickle’s worth of difference” between the two parties.
Just what are the ideals of the Tea Party? Are they printed anywhere - is there a platform? I am not being sarcastic - I just think the ideals have changed since last April and I want to know what the Tea Party supports. Is it ultra-conservative socially - is that the main platform, or is this more about smaller government, less taxes and abiding by the constitution? I would seriously like to hear some comments because I am confused by all the different emails I get from “Tea-Party” people - I just want to know exactly what interest the Tea Party represents.
Take over the GOP. Rebuild it from the bottom up: Get candidates who don’t mind being “one-termers” if it means getting our country back on the right track; grassroots fund raising; media blitzing; community organizing; protesting major news networks and newspapers, Hollywood, and far-left college departments. Always produce a copy of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution at every rally. It’d be a good start.
I would like to see the whole party system disappear completely. Why can’t we all be independent thinkers and vote for the best person for the job rather than voting along party lines? It’s an antiquated system that divides people rather than bring them together in a common endeavor.
We don’t have enough clout to go out as a third party…….YET!!! Give us two more years of growth and funding for the war chest. Then the GOP will come over to US. In the 2010 election, vote the most conservative candidate you can. In 2012, we’ll hammer ‘em! Patience, dear friends, patience. (I’m a strict, Constitutional, Libertarian if you can’t tell.)
Third party will cost election - true, so I voted Only if Viable. But the left took over the Democratic party pretty successfully.
Voted the way I did due to damage to the name Republican.
Personally I think we should put forth an effort to bring all of the other “Tea Party” groups in with us.
The individual groups are smaller, less organized, but they share our goals, and hope, for our Country.
If united under one banner we would be legion, with a mighty roar that none could deny, or avoid.
Enough is enough!! We have been idle for years, and it shows. Where are our morals, values?? I want MY country back!! I want my grandchildren to know what it is to be an American…not a socialist!!!!
We can’t allow our votes to be split until this Liberal nut jobs are defeated and out of office (for good). When we show the GOP we have the power then they will fall in line. P.S. Liberal entertainment should also be shown they are not in control also by using our viewing power. These money grubbing celebrities will follow who ever and what ever makes them popular.
The Patriotic American who has abided by the rules, done what is right is now being swept under the rug of socialism. The tax eating parasite who has leached off the system for 40 or more years has a front man at the helm, who is intent on taking from those who have built America to the most prosperous country in the world. We have to take our country back. Those who will not be responsible for their own lives will have to live and learn that America gives you the opportunity, if you don’t take it, we will not cry for you anymore.
We must avoid a third party. Primaries are the place to fight it out. I live in NY’s 23rd. and if we had had a primary instead of ensconsed wishy washy Republican County Chairmen to make the choice of our candidate Hoffman might be in the House. Just recently the editors of NRO made the case for primary fights instead of splitting off. I would refer you to that article.
WE should not declare anything except that we can vote as we please. It would be a mistake to let any party take us for granted or write us off. Our power is their uncertainty.
I want to echo sean’s sentiments. “Fire the crooks, leave religion out of it and work with the GOP”. However, that sounds easier than it will be to do. Both the crooks and the religious crazies have gotten a strong hold of the GOP. If we can keep the democrats from giving away the country long enough, it may be time to go for a third party.
Yes, the GOP was there too, but never the GOP brought in Marxistism or Communism either like what we have now. Many GOP leaders right now are like McCain, they are more towards kind of in the left not conservative at all. We need to bring more conservative leaders in. Leaders that believed deep in their heart to serve the people not their pockets first. always when you do good for others rewards follow you.
The Forefathers left the Greedy British Isles. They started the tea party, to stop the Cooperate Monarchy of the British. Yet, they support the Cooperate Monarchy of America. Walmart, Insurance companies, Freedom works, the Top of the Top. They use Tea-Baggers as cooperate slaves. Think about it…
Did you know our founding fathers never had to pay for health care? It was Free, those who could give, did. Not the same as todays healthcare system. Today, it’s about money. Glenn Beck doesn’t read history. He’s told what to say about it, by Insurance companies.
Why did Gold prices drop? Glenn Beck just sold his shares, to you at a record high. You bought the Gold he told you to, as he Sold his. He is YOUR Leader. Think about it America…Do you want a Coorprate Run Government, giving tax cuts to the gold companies, big businesses, No Regulation. Or do you want a ‘For the People’ run Government that tax cuts the Middle class, Regulates Coorprate Slavery, and protects All Americans Equally? Health Care should be a Freedom, not an Insurance money scam.
Is this a christian movement, to supress the Freedom of Religion? Or more of an anti-middle class who supports wallstreet(big Businesses) to control America? Wasn’t that what all the slavery is about? Have the Tea-Baggers Really thought about WHO is Controling this Party? Big Businesses, like Freedom works, Ruppurt Murdock, Exxon Mobile, the Gold companies, etc… Do the Tea-Baggers Really know who they are working for? They are the Slaves to Big Businesses. They get paid NOTHING to go out and fight ‘against’ the Freedoms of Americans. These are the Tea-Baggers. Do what Glenn Beck says, make the Rich Richer, and the Poor Poorer. Glenn Beck makes Millions to act like a clown(his own words). People have the right to speak out against what they see as being wrong. But, the Tea-Baggers are single minded, Big Business Slaves. They worship Gold. The Devils idol. Think about it…Good Luck, America.
I don’t believe in the “wasted vote”. I have a right to vote and I vote for the candidate of my choosing and by doing so I have not wasted my vote. On the contrary I have been true to myself and not some political party that has it’s own interest in mind.
P.S Did I somehow forget to mention the 1ST verifiable “terrorist act” perpetrated on American soil since 911. That little footnote of the massacre at Ft.Hood by a jihadist against “unarmed” soldiers because congress is too busy investigating “party crashers” and can’t convene an investigation. Or the undeniable fact that the current POTUS may not be constitutionally eligible to serve and every order/action may not be lawful. I’m holding on with bated breath!!! BOTH parties seem to be otherwise engaged.
I believe that if we send Principled Candidates who will stand for Fiscal Responibility, our Constitution, Limited Government and Representing the People and not special interest we will get our Country back. Indepedence Caucus is a Nationwide Citizen’s organization doing this we are finding, vetting, endorsing and campaigning for Principled Candidates. We have a thorough vetting process and we are all volunteers the people taking back their Representation. check us out at http://www.icaucus.org. We have to get back to you and I deciding who will represent us and not the Party or the money! We do not need a third party we need the Conservative Party to get back to Principles and stand on them!
It is not with any pleasure that I’m sharing my thoughts/feelings,but,I believe that a reality check is in order! I respect and admire all the comments that have been shared, however,it all sounds pretty much like business/politics as usual. The true Gravity of the situation has failed to be addressed. By the time midterm, let alone presidential elections, roll around our nation will already be transformed into something unrecognizable. Today, I can’t smoke a cigarette without fear of retribution. When I speak my mind I’m always aware of who’s listening(homophobe, christian beliefs and on and on). Talk is playing right into the hands of our enemy, yes I said enemies! Engaging in civil discourse is a thing of the past. I either agree or I am completely ignored, marginalized as if I don’t exist. Unlike many others I have lived and travelled worldwide and experienced firsthand socialism/communism and the oppression it manifests in every citizens life. It is eerily similar to the caste system practiced even to this day in India. We have become a nation of have’s and have nots and the line of destinction is clear. The Elitists have all the power. In my mind this is exactly like the royals of old dictating the rules and the peasants to follow obediently. King George III decreed that taxes and more taxes were the answer to keep the colonists in line. The final straw for most and our forefathers rebelled fighting the invincible empire and won, not by words but actions, which is the only thing they understand. This environment wasn’t created overnight and won’t be solved as such. We the People are at war whether most want to see it as such or not. Denial is a powerful weapon and only plays into the hands of our enemy. Diplomacy and negotiation hasn’t won one square inch of freedom for this country. Human sacrifice has. Precious time is being wasted debating who the next party in power will be. In my humble opinion the combined power of the two got us precisely where we are today. The “Trojan Horse” has been delivered and to our horror the contents revealed. I hope that tangible honest effective solutions can be presented in order to minimize the damage. Too many battles of the past have been conceded and the results are apparent with how our society is coping today. I am not a pessimist but rather a realist with a message that I don’t want to carry,so please don’t stone the messenger. I do know that United WE Stand,Divided We Fall. It’s not rocket science. I hope we don’t try to turn it into such. The day that I read that Navy seals are being prosecuted for valor and Acorn thugs not prosecuted for voter intimidation(with pictures)by our esteemed Atty Gen will be a cold day in hell. When “hate crimes” bill is included in a war time Defense Appropriations bill could never happen. When healthcare, cap and trade issues and the Education czar promoting XXX rated (pro homosexual, lesbian and transgender)reading material for preschoolers can never happen. Climategate emails never happened and carry on as business as usual. Ignore the will of the people. These are just some examples of what’s occuring right now today. Procrastination is unacceptable. Just imagine what’s in store for us by the time elections come around. I was in Vietnam while the “peace talks” were being held. Only until we lit up their collective asses by bombing them back to the dark ages did “REAL” negotiations begin, at a terribly high cost. Ronald Reagan’s motto “Peace through Strength” defeated the Soviet empire. Perhaps it’s time to start flexing our collective muscles!!!
The third party will cost the election. As much as I would like to see true conservatives sweep the election, first time out doesn’t have a chance.
What we do have is the opportunity of shaping the Republican candidates’ platforms away from the middle or left leaning to staunch conservatism. We will need to endorse candidates and use our block vote to help them get elected
The GOP may have lost their way in the past, but with our help I believe we can retake the party and fill it with real conservatives that will do the will of the people and not the lining of their own pockets. New York 23 is a prime example. We have to back the right candidates that are truely conservative.
We need the 3rd party, maybe even 5 eventually. But since we really can’t win without the Republican party and they seem the most likely to be in our camp, we need to work with them in 2010, then by 2012 they may be begging to work with us.
We need to take over the GOP .. BUT .. only in the sense of moving it toward Tea Party ideals - we cannot do this by following the RNC - WE MUST TARGET THE PRIMARIES - get(real) conservatives to run against any / all GOP that do not live up to the 9 / 12 principles - if we wait until post-primaries we’ll end up with another McCain. Loser for sure.
Great POLL! Take over the GOP is the way to go in my opinion.
I agree with Marie. This needs to be a district by district decision. I am considering running as an independent in my district, which has been a traditionally Democrat district of California. Many people are disgruntled with the Democrat party, but don’t trust Republicans either. My logic is that it may be difficult to run against the Democrat incumbent as an independent, but it would be harder running as a Republican. Aligning with one of the currently available parties would be a recipe for disaster. By not running as one of their candidates, I hope to be able to pick up votes from each of their parties, the disgruntled Republicans and the unhappy Dems. Plus, I hope to give the rapidly growing number of independents and “decline to states” something better than “the lesser of two evils.” I consider myself most aligned with the philosophies of the Tea Party, but there is no official way to run as a Tea Party candidate. That being the case I will go against the odds as an independent in 2010 and hope for an official Tea Party (or whatever we call it) in 2012. Blindly aligning with the Republicans across the board could do more long term harm to the Tea Party (and country for that matter) than it will good. It will give the GOP the false idea that we are on their side, and that because we help them win, that they have a mandate to do whatever they feel is right. The current administration has that misguided opinion and it needs to stop.
There needs to be another choice in this poll: no party. George Washington, in his farewell address to the nation, envisioned a country not riddled with all the bickering and stalling caused by political parties. I want to vote for candidates, not parties. I want to vote for ideas, not group philosophies. Isn’t that the point of democracy? The Era of Good Feelings, as those who have studied their history already know, was a time when there was but a single political party in the United States. That was good, but I want to go further–no parties at all. Not by illegalizing them, not by restricting any sort of freedom, but rather by making the public conscious of how parties are preventing the US from being all that it should be. Independence–that’s my party.
considering the dems are taking over the socialist party, taking back the GOP shouldn’t be so difficult. Fire the crooks, leave religion out of it and push for the conservative ideals. People are waking up everyday wondering where apple pie and chevrolet have gone and they are beginning to realize they want it back, now.
The “you will split the vote” crap is always expoused by the Republican Party. When Ross Perot received 18% of the popular vote over 20 years ago, it always makes me wonder where we would be today if the THIRD party movement would have continued. From the polls that I read - Perot’s votes came equally from Republicans and Democrats - so, I’m not convinced that he was the reason we got Clinton.
I think that there are a whole lot of conservative Democrats (not the liberal MINORITY) that are very concerned with our country’s current administration. It would be much easier to convince them to join a THIRD party than it would be to join the (just as dirty) Republican party.
