Who is Behind “The Tea Party is Over”?

logo

By now, many of us have been exposed to The Tea Party Is Over web site. There are many liberals and progressives (some RINOs included) who would like to see the Tea Party movement come to an end, because frankly, we stand in the way of their agenda. The Tea Party is Over states that it’s “mission” is “To prevent the Tea Party’s dangerous ideas from gaining legislative traction.”

Highlight boxes on the web page focus on three men, one of which is Randy Hultgren with the caption, Randy Hultgren has taken right-wing positions on spending, health care, abortion, and gay rights. He sponsored a bill to remove protections from discrimination because of sexual orientation, and claims the health care bill “will kill people.” Call Randy at 630.549.0139 and tell him to reject the dangerous ideas of the Tea Party.

The Tea Party Is Over is paid for and approved by American Public Policy Committee (see bottom of TPIO web page). According to the records, the top two donors for American Public Policy Committee this year are Patriot Majority and Patriot Majority West.

The Patriot Majority has the same street and suite address as the Sandler, Reiff and Young Law Firm. Joseph Sandler was the general counsel to the Democratic National Committee who filed a motion to dismiss Philip Berg’s eligibility lawsuit against Obama and the DNC. Sandler is also former counsel to both MoveOn.org and the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim group named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist-finance case in U.S. history.

    To ADC Beast,

I said “delusional” or a “Communist”. Read a little instead of arguing. And yes, Bush and Reagan raised taxes but did it solve the fiscal problem that we are now having? It’s a temporary fix to justify increased spending. Cut back the spending and increasing taxes isn’t necessary. Did you ever even take a math class? Is that what you do in your household? If you are short of money you go and take your neighbor’s money instead of cutting back on your own spending? Obama wants to raise taxes for the wealthy who support this country (they pay about 86 % of the overall tax base). And he is spending more than any other President in history, that is a fact. You are obviously very ignorant.

  2. ADCBeast says:

    Dan O’Brien

Scott Brown will be history in 3 years.

  3. ADCBeast says:

CARLA … so Reagan and George Bush Sr. is a communist? They raised taxes to solve fiscal problems.

It seems you have no clue what you are talking about.

Since Obama has given a tax cut to 95% of Americans you must be a big supporter of his.

  4. Carla says:

    Corrected post:

This government has already ruined the future of America. Anyone who thinks paying more taxes will solve our fiscal problems is delusional or a Communist or both. The more the government gets, the more it will spend. Liberals don’t want fiscal and personal responsibility because they can’t profit from that. The fight is just starting. And if liberals push, push back even harder. This is our future we are fighting for. And if most of us happen to be White, what does that say about how White people think? Be proud of that!

“all American ideals, values and principles”. Like shirking our responsibility to future generations by dodging taxes?

  7. Mr. Clean says:

Who’s behind “the tea party is over”? We all are.

It’s amazing after 8 years of profligate spending, how the Republicans are now just getting religion on “fiscal responsibility”. I don’t get how reducing or limiting taxes with a ballooning deficit plays into that though.

“Taxation without representation is tyranny”? Members of this board want to do without taxation altogether. Guess what? Apart from complete anarchy, it ain’t happnin’. We can all look forward to a future of higher taxes. Each and every one of us … that is, if we want to finally accept responsibility for our actions individually and collectively.

  8. Left2Right says:

Palin lacks credibility and I think the Tea Party movement can and should find a stronger candidate to be affiliated with. I liked Palin after her first 2 public speeches, but now I cringe when I hear her talk.
Also, perhaps the Tea Party movement would have more strength if the many groups merged into one large group. I am a member of 5 different tea party groups and it seems there is a lot of duplication of effort going on. Can’t all these groups with shared interests merge into one group. I donate a little to each group but feel like one large contribution would be better utilized than 5 small amounts.

  9. anne waldron says:

I will support John McCain. I believe he is an honorable man and with the right backing in the senate, he will do the people’s work. His only problem is that he is too honorable and not confrontational.

  10. mike says:

How can we have a movement with no leaders? Would’nt that leave the door open for just anyone to come in and say they are affiliated with the tea party?
How come there is such a short list of issues sounds a bit fishy. I mean the idea behind it is good but the problem
is Unless we can get someone in with nothing to gain someone with a alot of
morals then the process that lead to this mess will just be repeated. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I would think that unless we could get rid of the lobbyers the same thing would happen to all who enters the walls of government. Since government is not really accountable to the american people. That would be the foremost problem with government and untill the day we can hold these people accountable to there actions and promises then that
will be the day we get our democracy back !

You should all read the New York Times piece on the tea party. Here is the company that you keep:
    -People who do not understand judicial review;
    -Originalists who read the constitution as a singular document;
-People who brandish weapons and threaten to either win or revolt.
Among other things…the truth is you’re not Americans, but angry white people who can’t accept how their country has changed and are too ignorant to know any better.
    Pity the fool…

  12. C. Beadle says:

I would like to be a part of this movement because I too am frustrated, but any good movement will suffer if it’s not inclusive to all!

  17. Capt. Nemo says:

Its illeagal to advocate not paying taxes so in that light all I will say is just delay them, indefinatly. File an extension, then put it on an installment plan, your own. Make every move to show you will not be pushed.

I got called into the IRS after not filing for 11 years. They said “Where are your files?” I said “I don’t have any where are yours, you obviously called me here for some reason, so I’m guessing you have a file. So I suggest you get it.” After two days of intimidation and me stone walling and being respectful but very beligerent. Them thinking I actually gave a damn what they thought, the IRS had nothing and had to issue a tax refund for $450 for small witholdings over the years.

Cut up your credit cards, close your bank account, live on cash. If you can’t pay for it you don’t need it. Move whats left of your assetts into liquid and put your property into your kids name. Then get ready for a fight. And learn to enjoy getting your back against the wall.

I love the Constitution the Bill of rights and the history of our country. It’s the American people who are the most depressing. Wimps all the way. Not our soldiers, police, etc just you laydown truck drivers and warehouse punks and any others tough guy acts who think acting tough is being tough. Punks every last one. The French people would put you all to shame if you actually looked at their ability to have an effect.

We deserve to lose this country. Every last one turns to jelly when faced with the IRS. Are they scary? Of course when looking at them alone and when you care. See I don’t care any more. After this filing season I probably won’t be alone either. Call’em depression draftees.

I’m a carpenter whose job is never going to provide anything close to the so called dream. I lose 3-4 months every year and make survival wages. I got finacially crushed in 2003 and haven’t been able to get up since. God help me if I get hurt because with you idiots God is all I have. I’ll pray for my broken leg.

I can barely support myself with illeagals all over the jobs taking away the word of mouth network which is what we used to rely on. I do small jobs for cash to keep my tools and truck running. I’m 50, no savings nothing of value and thank God no kids, all I have to feed is my dog.

I saw all this before with Ross Perot. Great start and then you look closely you understand why they got no respect. Same here all big mouth and no balls.

The Tea Party should let Sarah lead it. They were made for each other. Vapid(Means air head like in vapor) uninformed and nothing for an idea. What is tort reform anyway. A cap on payouts that the lawyer gets half of. Millon dollar mistake pays out $500k. Which leaves $250k to fix what will take… right still the full million.

Deregulation got us into this mess and you want inyternational corporate giants who write the bills anyway to have less restriction. Your crazy. I want health care not health insurance. You don’t trust the government but we cannot trust corporations. Enron, moron??

This anger is correct and we need to be heard so, lets shut down the country by keeping the money as individuals. Then lets get an honest debate without the hate.

Public financing of campaigns with no donations, period. First shut down the circus.

National sales tax to finance health care, for every one. We are the most important asset in this country. It only makes sense to keep this asset working, as in healthy and productive.

Lifetime wonks as Civil servants who write the bills not special interest lobbyists.

This is our country and it has been stolen but not by Washington, they just follow the money like the whores they are. Board room greed has gotten us.

Like Pogo said “We have seen the enemy and he is us”.

You know it just figures CAIR is indirectly linked. They are also probably involved in hacking the polls at the FoxNews site about the Tea Party being all about “racism”. I noticed that they will go above and beyond convention and reason to get what they want in the public opinion polls. (This because there are people who actually believe them and make decisions based on them). It is about the only way CAIR-type orgs can influence public opinion.

I was actually expecting this to be the next thing out from them (after you were able to link them to the above rumour).
In the UK, their equivalent organizations operate exactly like this when they want to squash movements/with parties attempting to support the people’s rights to liberty and freedom. It is all about Islam not looking bad (and thereby getting every concession they pressure for) and they have decided the Tea Party Movement is a threat to Islam.

Anyone caught “criticizing” (by their definition not yours) Islam will be called a “racist” or a “bigot” — and subsequently you will be accused of “hate speech” and if Ted Kennedy’s bill goes anywhere you will be charged with a “hate crime”. Look out because they are watching you I’m sure.

Before anyone throws in the towel because this is going to get a little dicey should remember the great struggles of our forefathers. The cold, decimated armies, constantly getting your ass kicked. We have lived too comfortably for too long and have grown soft. It is high time we start acting like Americans and stand up for ourselves, our children, our husbands and wives and the rest that we hold near and dear. If we don’t we are so so screwed.
Remember that the men on the battlefield had their asses handed to them quite a few times before gaining the upper hand and they were without resources, shelter and food much of the time. For now we have the luxury of a fight that only requires from ” We The People” the pulling of a lever and talking to friends and loved ones and spreading the truth.
I don’t know about the rest of you but I refuse to give up. The tea party is not over. Sara Palin as far as I am concerned did not speak for me at that {Bastardization of a freedom event}. She spoke and proved herself a neocon. Why would any true patriot pay $500.00 so that someone that wants your attention gets $100,000.00, tell you lies, and promotes endless war and the eradication of your God given rights, and subversion of our already distressed Constitution.

For the liberals in the tea party I have a question for you. Why do you call yourself a liberal? Is it because you were pigeonholed into either Left –Right paradigm. Can you say those terms in today’s political environment describe you properly. I am just saying think about it, there may be a better descriptor. Something like Law abiding citizen that is sick and tired of being lied to and manipulated for the benefit of TPTB. Just something to think about.

An individual brought up a really simple idea. Tea Party supporters should put a number 3 on the bumper of their car ( or anywhere else they want to). This will at least start a show of support for change. How can they hijack this sign of support? Maybe if we can show some unity by this we stand a chance. This needs to just be a simple number and not a nascar earnhardt decal.

Don’t write off all liberals. I’m a liberal and a very pissed off one. Yes, I support a woman’s right to choose, protection for the environment, universal health care (not necessarily insurance) , and workers rights. But all these things can be done with out breaking the bank.

So here is a question for all Tea Partyiers, do you have room for liberals?

You need to understand what the TEA party movement is about. This entire movement is about rights –particularly states rights, property rights and individual rights. Taking your ideological ideas or social beliefs and forcing them on anyone else by some act of legislative fiat or some bastardized interpretation of the Constitution is what got us into this mess.

The short answer to both your questions: if you’re a liberal hack who thinks everyone else should live by your set of beliefs and ideology regardless of what the Constitution reads then no there is no room for you and your ilk. If you’re the type of liberal who just wants to live by the law of the land and not impose your beliefs on others than your fine.

  27. Americanfreedom says:

Why did Sarah Palin get to speak for us? Why should anybody? More importantly, why should any politician? Especially one associated with a loss in 2008. Shouldn’t we encourage more public discussion of ideas? If there is no leadership in the tea party, who’s setting dates and speakers? We must approach these issues in order to save our movement, or will it be corrupted by the same politics that now run Washington. Silent enemies are always the biggest enemies.

  28. Jeff says:

  30. craig says:

Hey there, the tea party is BS. Just republicans trying to pose as independent, free enterprise, non corpratist movement that is only intended to throw more babel at us. If we see Sarah Palin, in all of her idiocy, then we aren’t seeingthe future. She is a dimwitted moron. You all need to go back to being republicans and allow us independents to fight the revolution against all of you corporate sposors, belieivng that corporations = capitalism. idiots! Corpratism is a new form of government leading us to ruin so a few rich people can get richer. Open your eyes Lemmings. The music is not that sweet. Traitors!

  31. SK Williams says:

Well, I should hope we all want the Tea Party to end. Though, I don’t think we should desire it to end as its oponants do, quietly n the night.

What I mean is, the Movement exists to ensure certain ends, and once those ends are met, once those goals accomplished, if the Tea Party continues, it will seek a purpose or its existence, and mutate into the same sort of corrupt orginisaiton we now fight in Washington.

Much like how NATO existed to prevent Communism from Spreading across the Globe, and now seems to exist to enforce Western Civilisation’s love affair with social Tampering.

I think the movement needs to continue until its goal is met, then disband peacefully.

  32. Why did we invite an establishment polititian, like Sarah Palin, to speak at our convention?

  33. David Baxter says:

We need to do some thing. We are paying taxes for thing that does not help us at all, but just a small group. Here just one, I pay a fire tax each year, if you live close to a fire plug you get a discount on your house ins. This does not help me , and a lot of others at all. So why should we pay for others. It did not help put the fire out on my house when it bruned down at a total lost. Our country is in debt , but we still sent our tax dollars over to help other country that does not even like us. We pay for bus systems that is out of our areas so we will every use them. Our school system is going broke, so why don’t we go back to what we are promised reading math, not foot ball, music arts. There is so much waste we could cut out of the city, county, state, and fed. goverment, until we get back on our feet has a country, then we can look at special servies that we would like, but not for just for a few

  34. FreedomDad says:

We do need to keep in mind that this fight will most likely not be won in our lifetime. We need to train our children in Liberty. Get them out of government indoctrination camps (public schools), teach them history and good financial decision making. And, recognize that the God of the Bible is providential in our future and repent of our ways to Him; like our founders understood.

  36. adam braus says:

The movement towards socialism in this country and across the West is so gradual and pervasive because that has been their plan since the 30’s.

Fabianism, means to fight many small skirmishes, and avoid any pitched battle or direct confrontation.

In a way, this is bringing Fabians into a direct confrontation.

However, the real teaching is how the freedom movement itself ought to become Fabian.

Let us take our criticisms and learn from them: “this movement is a fad.” It will be hard to sustain a direct fight for as long as it will take to achieve liberty. If many liberty fighters take a Fabian route of gaining the initiative by fighting skirmishes around the big issues, eventually the big issues will be like foregone conclusions or necessities. This is the pattern of the enemies of liberty and has been VERY successful. So focus on little things, and gain the initiative. Don’t worry about drawing opponents out into the field to do battle. Instead, be their sometimes friend, win skirmishes against them, then laugh, pat them on the back, and do them a good turn on some other issue so they stay your friend.

Given the connection to MoveOn.org, it becomes obvious that their support comes from G.Soros and therefore they are obligated to oppose all American ideals, values and principles.
